Watch: Netflix Just Dropped New Clips From "Outer Banks" Season 2
Welcome to the Outer Banks, where it's Pogues vs. Kooks 24/7, and only one will get to the rule the island that they call home. The new Netflix series, Outer Banks, follows a group of local teens, called Pogues, as they try to find the treasure hidden in their hometown. But the island’s high-class vacation kids, named the Kooks, will stop at nothing to keep them from moving on up in the world. Fans are already freaking out over the show’s big cliffhanger and are trying to figure out what's next for John B., Kie, Pope, JJ, and Sarah.
So will we be going back to the OBX for another season? Here are all our big questions and everything you need to know about season two of Outer Banks.

Have the episode titles been revealed?
As we get closer to the season's premiere, Netflix just dropped the episode titles and there are some major spoilers ahead. The season's fourth episode is called "Homecoming", which likely points to a huge Pogue reunion. But it looks like not everything is going to go well, especially in the episode "Trapped". When will season 2 come out?
It's official, Outer Banks season 2 will be hitting Netflix on July 30. On July 14, Netflix dropped the official trailer for season 2 on Instagram.
Netflix originally revealed the big news with a teaser that shows what happened to our favorite characters after the big season 1 finale. Check it out below:
Will there be any new characters?
The Outer Banks is a pretty big place, so it's not too surprising to hear that some new faces are joining in on the fun.
Carlacia Grant is joining the cast in a role that will see our Pogues in the Bahamas. She'll be playing Celo. "Confident and fearless, Cleo is a Nassau girl, a formidable artful dodger, whose world collides with the Pogues."
Lost and Once Upon a Time star Elizabeth Mitchell will be joining the cast as Limbrey, according to Deadline. "A long-time Charleston native, [Limbrey is] a compelling woman with a level of toxicity and menace underneath her seemingly courteous ways."
"So excited to join this show! Gorgeous, talented cast. Incredible crew. Filming in paradise and a character I can't wait for you to meet," Elizabeth wrote on her Instagram.
Are there any big changes coming?
While we knew that things wouldn't be the same in the OBX when we saw our favorite pogues again, we definitely didn't see this coming.
Series star Madelyn Cline revealed that a time jump is happening in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"This is a micro time jump," she said. "[There's] the kind of shock where you turn the page... and you read that moment and you [gasp] and then your mind starts going a thousand miles a minute. You're like, 'Oh my gosh, this is going to be so fun to shoot... This is gonna be fun and it's gonna be shocking to watch as well.'"
Are there any sneak peeks?
It's no mystery that Netflix loves to tease bits of info till release day — which is why we thankfully got sneak peeks at clips from season 2 ahead of its release on July 30.
In one of the clips released on July 22, the Pogues find out that John B. and Sarah are actually alive by getting a snap sent to their phones. The second scene shows JJ standing up for John B while he's serving Kelce and other Kooks at the Island Inn.
Then, on July 28, another clip of John B and Sarah sharing an emotional sunset dance was posted.
When did season two start filming?
Outer Banks season two started filming in the late summer 2020. has already According to WIS News 10, a casting office, TW Cast and Recruit, was looking for some extras to film scenes for the show's second season. A couple of other requests were also put up on their website, with a Facebook page looking for locals to play everything from EMTs to high school students. A previous post on their Facebook page confirms that filming started back in August 31, 2020.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Chase Stokes, Madison Bailey, and Jonathan Daviss revealed that there was a "heavily reduced crew" due to social distancing measures for the Coronavirus pandemic.
Is season 2 of Outer Banks happening?
Yes, it is! Netflix officially announced the news on July 24, 2020 and even shared a new teaser art to get fans excited over the big news.
Filming for season two wrapped in April 2021, and the cast said goodbye with some adorable Instagram posts.
"What a labor of love this season has been. To the best crew in this business. Thank you. You have fought through adversity with a sense of humor. Sacrificed your time during a global pandemic to bring to life another incredibly compelling story," Chase Stokes wrote. "This isn’t an easy show to do, and for those that are there before we get to work, and those who stay when we leave. My heart is filled with gratitude for you. This is more than just a tv show. This has become a big ole’ family. Thank you for on the most difficult days to make us all smile, and on the best days to laugh and joke with us. Also the cast posted photos from Barbados recently, showing that they'll filmed some scenes there. Does this mean that John B. and Sarah made it to the Bahamas?!
Who is coming back for season 2?
Along with the season 2 announcement, Netflix confirmed that the main cast will all be returning. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Drew Starkey, Deion Smith, and Charles Esten are all set to reprise their roles.
With this news, it's a good guess we'll see all our favorite Pogues reunited together again. Since John B. and Sarah’s rescuers were on their way to the Bahamas at the end of the season, we think we’ll find the two in Nassau when the show picks back up. With Kie, JJ, and Pope still back at the OBX, we bet the group’s next task will be to get John B. and Sarah back home.
What will season 2 be about?
Season two will likely pick up where we left off in season one, with John B. and Sarah on their way to the Bahamas to try to get the gold back. Kie, JJ, and Pope will be dealing with the aftermath of the SBI escape and their supposed deaths. Ward will be facing the consequences for his actions as the SBI and local police discovered he is the one behind the death of John B's dad. Either way, the Outer Banks will certainly never be the same.
What does the cast hope for season 2?
Fans aren't the only ones waiting for a season two renewal. Seventeen got to talk to the cast of Outer Banks and they are super excited about possibly coming back to the OBX to continue to tell their crazy story. Madison Bailey, who plays Kie, says fans should expect some major revenge coming from the Pogues.
"There’s gonna be a whole new dynamic. How do you go about life without your best friend? I think it’s going to be rough on everyone," she told Seventeen in an exclusive interview. "And we’re going to have to come together and take care of each other now more than ever. But revenge is going to be on all of our minds."
Jonathan Daviss, who plays Pope, agrees and says that this will be the Pogue's biggest lesson yet.
"I'm interested to see if we do move forward, potentially with the second season, where the Pogues relationship is going to be without John B," he told Seventeen exclusively. "Are they going to stick together as a family? Are they going to separate because of it? Is that relationship going to stick or are they going to be afraid? It's something interesting to explore."
Rudy Pankow, who plays JJ, agrees and says that it will likely bring the remaining Pogues together like never before.
"Justice is going to be served, but it's just a matter of who does it. I think I really want to see him struggle with coming to terms with the fact that his best friend is gone, and what's the point in trying anymore?" he told Seventeen exclusively. "I think that's something that I want to see. And, if that doesn't happen, that's okay. But I think that would be a great arc for JJ and the Pogues to fall apart until we know John B is back."
