If you're like us, then you'll know the only thing better than a good romantic novel is an adaptation of a good romantic novel. In the case of One True Loves, twisted fates and tough decisions make this an unputdown-able story, and we now finally have an on-screen adaptation coming our way!
Based on the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel of the same name, One True Loves is the story of conflicted love, recovering from loss, and learning how to discover what it is we really want. And with the new trailer having recently been released, we've taken a look at everything you need to know about the new rom-com you don't want to miss.
What's One True Loves about?
The story follows Emma, a fun-loving travel-junkie who is married to the love of her life, Jesse. However, when Jesse seemingly disappears after his helicopter reportedly crashes over the ocean, Emma is suddenly forced to reckon with the fact that her husband may never return after he is eventually presumed dead.
Rocked by grief, Emma is left in a tail-spin, struggling to get back on track with her life without Jesse by her side. After some time, she realises she must get back out into the world and push on.
And, wouldn't you know it, part of her newfound lease on life involves bumping into old friend Sam. Eventually, she and Sam fall in love, and the two become engaged.
But of course, it was never going to be that simple. Just when Emma feels that she can be happy again, Jesse mysteriously appears! Turns out he was alive this whole time, and is ready to return to normal following his near-miss with death.
Slight problem there, since Emma is now engaged, and in love, with Sam. Awkward.
Now Emma has a choice to make: return to her long-lost husband, or embrace her new could-be life with Sam. Torn equally between the two, it looks to be a bumpy road with at least one person getting their heart broken.
Who's starring in One True Loves?
Musical theatre fans can rejoice, because Hamilton's Phillipa Soo will be starring as Emma in the film adaptation. And the two men she finds herself torn between? Marvel alumni Simu Liu, and Point Break star Luke Bracey.
Also starring in the film is Michaela Conlin, Tom Everett Scott, Gary Hudson, and Oona Yaffe.
Who wrote One True Loves?
You'll no doubt be familiar with the book's author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who also penned a couple of the hottest books that have made waves online in recent years; The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & The Six, which already has an upcoming adaptation that you'll probably be just as excited about as we are!
Is there a trailer for One True Loves?
Yes! In the newly released trailer, we get a first real look at the newest romantic comedy that'll be sure to have you tearing up.
The trailer introduces us to Soo as Emma, and her happy-go-lucky attitude and her new marriage to Jesse. It also lets us into her heartbreak and trauma when Jesse goes missing, as well as her sudden change of heart as she gets to know Sam.
Of course, it doesn't give us much indication of which man she gets up choosing, which means we'll just have to tune in to find out exactly how this complicated love story is going to conclude.
What is One True Loves' release date?
One True Loves will be coming to theatres on 7th April, and hitting streaming platforms on 28th April.
