Everything We Know About Netflix's Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story

Jerry Seinfeld is set to write, star, direct, and produce a film about the invention of Pop-Tarts. "Stuck at home watching endless sad faces on TV, I thought this would be a good time to make something based on pure silliness," he told Deadline. "So we took my Pop-Tart stand-up bit from my last Netflix special and exploded it into a giant, crazy comedy movie."

Seinfeld's Pop-Tart stand-up bit in 23 Hours to Kill is about him discovering the magic of Pop-Tarts he was a kid. He jokes, "How did they know that there would be a need for a frosted fruit-filled heated rectangle in the same shape as the box it comes in, and with the same nutrition as the box it comes in?"

Watch Seinfeld deconstruct the Pop-Tart joke:

It will be set in 1963 Michigan, and focus on the rivalry between two Michigan cereal companies, Kellogg's and Post. (Post was once owned by heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post.) Pop-Tarts were first introduced to the public in 1964.

Seinfeld co-wrote the film with Spike Feresten and Barry Marder.
