Everything You Need to Know About the MoviePass Comeback

As audiences return to theaters, this movie ticket subscription service is ready to be reinstalled.

MoviePass has officially announced a release date for its revamped beta service.

The news comes less than 12 months after new buyers of the online service had previously hinted at its plans to provide moviegoers with an improved version of its monthly movie ticketing subscription service.

In a statement shared to the MoviePass FAQ page, the beta service is expected to make its re-launch "on or around Sept. 5th Labor Day 2022."

While many of the details pertaining to the revamped theatrical subscription service have yet to be released, some of the most important information has already been made public.

First, if you were a previous MoviePass subscriber, the new service has advertised that it will provide you with "complimentary bonus credits" as an incentive to rejoin.

Additionally, MoviePass announced that the new service will feature tickets for all theater chains in the United States that accept major credit cards

And as for cost, the subscription service stated on its site that it would be launching three membership tiers at varying prices depending on the regional market. Generally speaking, the estimated costs are: $10, $20, and $30 per month. Each membership level includes a distinct number of credits to be used towards movie tickets every 30 days.

According to the website, the only way to gain access to the new MoviePass is by joining the online waitlist–which is completely free. All who join the waitlist will have "priority access to the service" and, once a member, they will be able to invite up to 10 friends to join MoviePass.

Here's the catch: the waitlist for the new MoviePass beta service will only be open for five days, starting at 9 a.m. ET on Aug. 25 and closing on 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 29. Furthermore, the company stated that its services will launch in waves across the country–based on user interest and the geographical data of waitlist registrants.
