Issa Rae just shared the news that she got married in a surprise ceremony in Southern France—and now, fans of the television mogul are eager to know more about her new husband, businessman Louis Diame.

Though Rae's hit HBO show, Insecure, has taken inspiration from her dating life, she's remained exceptionally private regarding the status of her real-life romantic affairs. “I get so much feedback about everything,” she told Marie Claire last year. “The one thing I don’t need feedback on is who I’m sleeping with.” Still, the longtime couple have gifted the public with various red-carpet glimpses—although sparse—over the years.

While we all continue to process the news that the star is now married, here's everything else to know so far about the Insecure star's new husband.

He is an international banker.

According to what appears to be his private LinkedIn page, the mogul is allegedly an independent banking professional in the greater Los Angeles area. Other sources, including Marie Claire and Martha Stewart Weddings, have also identified Diame as a "Senegalese businessman."

He appeared on an episode of Issa Rae's web series.

Back in 2012, Diame made a brief, Season 1 cameo on Episode 7 ("The Date") of Rae's now decade-long YouTube web series, Awkward Black Girl, playing a Black man who looks disapprovingly at J (Rae) while she's out on a date with a white man, despite himself being out on a date with a white woman. Since then, rumors circulated surrounding their relationship, particularly after the couple appeared at several red-carpet events together, including the 2017 Golden Globes after-party.

Rumors of their engagement first circulated in March of 2019.

Speculation surrounding the pair's engagement first began in 2019, when Rae was the cover star for Essence magazine's April issue wearing a large studded diamond ring. Rae herself never confirmed the news, however, opting instead to remain coy on the subject of her potential engagement. In an interview with The View, she laughed off early speculation and simply said, "I've got a lot of rings on my finger. I wear jewelry, you know?"

Later, fellow Insecure costars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Courtney Tezeno, and Jason Carter officially confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight at the 2019 NAACP Image Awards. "We all found out in different ways because we're all on different text chains," Ellis told the outlet. "We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways."

"We're very excited for her," Orji also expressed. "The reaction was all the same, like, 'You out here in these streets getting married, boo!?' That was the reaction."

Diame has long been considered part of Rae's family.

Days after the couple's engagement was officially confirmed, Rae's brother, Lamine Diop, disclosed to Us Weekly that Rae and Diame had "been dating forever" and that Diame is "like a brother" to him. He also revealed that the engagement took place around the holidays that year, adding, "[Issa]'s so low-key too—for real! I found out, like, a couple days later, so we're just gonna let her lead the way."
