The Last Of Us TV series is one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2023. Based on the beloved video game franchise of the same name, the series will follow Joel and Ellie as they embark on a trek across the United States in an effort to save humanity after an outbreak that destroyed civilization: Think a zombie apocalypse caused by fungus. Those infected are commonly referred to as "clickers" or "The Infected."
The show is co-created Craig Mazin (creator of HBO's Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann, creator of the original Naughty Dog video game series.

Bella Ramsey as Ellie

Game of Thrones alum Bella Ramsey stars as Ellie, a young girl with an apparent immunity to the cordyceps outbreak. Fellow Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams had previously expressed interest in playing Ellie in a TV or film adaptation of the game.

Anna Torv as Tess

Tess, Joel's smuggling partner, is played by Anna Torv. Torv has previously starred in Fringe and Mindhunter.

Station 19 star Merle Dandridge, who voiced Marlene in the games, reprises the role for the series. Marlene is a leader of a rebel group called Fireflies who are on the hunt for a cure.
Nick Offerman as Bill

Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman will play Bill, a survivalist who helps Ellie and Joel during their journey. He replaced Con O'Neill in the role after O'Neill had a scheduling conflict.
Gabriel Luna as Tommy

Gabriel Luna stars as Tommy, Joel's younger brother. Tommy is an idealistic former soldier. You may recognize him from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where he played Ghost Rider.
Keivonn Woodard as Sam

Keivonn Woodard is Sam, part of a rebel group based in Kansas City. Sam and his brother Henry are "out for vengeance."
Lamar Johnson as Henry

The Last of Us season 1 will consist of nine episodes. Episode 1 has a reported runtime of an hour and 25 minutes.
How many seasons are there of The Last of Us?
So far there is one season of The Last of Us series. However, the show's writers and co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman described the upcoming season as "the first cycle" of the series, hinting that there may be more to come.

A trailer for The Last of Us was released on Dec. 3, 2022. The trailer shows a post-apocalypic world and Joel and Ellie bonding, as well as glimpses of other characters including Frank, Bill and Henry, the latter of which tells Joel, "You may not be her father, but you're someone's."
It isn't until the final moments of the trailer that we see "The Infected," which are cloaked in shadow but look very spooky!
