It’s time to archive Gossip Girl once more.

On January 19, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max has been cancelled after two seasons. The second season finale premieres on January 26, and will officially mark the final episode of the revival series on the streamer. Showrunner Josh Safran shared the news of the cancellation on Instagram, but noted that the series will be shopped around to other streaming services.

“So here’s the goss: it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce GOSSIP GIRL will not be continuing on HBO Max,” he began. “The EPs and I will forever be grateful to the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and dexterous talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication and love for the project. This was honestly the greatest set I ever worked on, top to bottom.”

“We are currently looking for another home, but in this climate, that might prove an uphill bottle, and so if this is the end, at least we went out on the highest of highs. Thank you for watching, and I hope you'll tune into the finale next Thursday to see how it all comes together. xoxo,” he continued. “ps. A big thank you to all the GG fans around the world. You’re the reason we came back in the first place, and who knows, maybe the reason we will meet again. Much love.”

The highly-anticipated second season opened with the fallout from Julien’s New Year's getaway, as she attempted to forge a relationship with her sister, Zoya. Max, Aki, and Audrey embraced their status as a throuple, while Julien relinquished her social media notoriety and joined forces with the infamous Gossip Girl. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season will wrap with a somewhat conclusive ending.

In true GG fashion, some of the reboot series’ stars took to social media on Thursday to repost the news. “XOXO,” Jordan Alexander (Julien) wrote on Instagram Stories, followed by a series of emojis. “Thank you to @gossipgirl and all of the amazing fans for everything,” Grace Duah (Shan) penned. “My life will never be the same. Until we meet again. 🖤”

Although the series has reached its end on HBO Max, the question remains if we ever return to the Upper East Side and the halls of Constance Billard again. Here’s hoping.
