Fans had a blast going with the Girls Trip crew to New Orleans in 2017, and now we'll have a chance to party and travel with the Flossy Posse once again! It has now been confirmed that Girls Trip 2 is indeed happening, and we've got intel on the cast, the filmmakers, and the international locale they'll be heading to this time around.

The original Girls Trip was a huge hit when it was released six years ago, making over $100 million at the box office while simultaneously making everyone look at grapefruits a bit differently. Finally, the long-awaited sequel has been confirmed. Where will the group—played by Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith—go this time? Is the *entire* cast returning? Will any other fruits be altered in our minds forever? Here's everything we know about Girls Trip 2 so far.

What will Girls Trip 2 be about?

At the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023, writer Tracy Oliver—who co-wrote the original Girls Trip movie with Kenya Barris—talked about the sequel. She told Variety she had a "definitive Girls Trip 2 update. That it’s officially happening. I can say that." Tracy also said the filmmakers are looking to up the ante this time with an international trip. She added that while producer Will Packer "might kill" her for saying so, they are "looking to set it in Ghana".

Tracy was at the festival promoting her hit TV series Harlem, and Variety reports that one of the show's stars Shoniqua Shandai yelled out "Afrochella!" Tracy then confirmed she is interested in having the women attend the Ghanaian music festival, which is also known as AfroFuture. As fans will recall, in the first movie the ladies visited New Orleans for Essence Festival, so expect similar fun vibes.

Who from the cast is returning for Girls Trip 2?

The four stars of the original movie are all supposed to return for the sequel. Will Packer confirmed this when announcing the movie during a January appearance on Good Morning America.

"Can't we all use a post-pandemic trip, my friend?" Will said. "I think that the time is actually right, and this is something that I will tell you and break right now at GMA: the Girls Trip 2 sequel, we are underway. We are absolutely in the stages, the ladies are in, I just talked to the director."

As for who else will join them? That remains to be seen!

What have the stars shared about the new movie?

The stars of Girls Trip have spoken out about wanting a round two for years—of course, largely because they've been asked repeatedly if a sequel was happening by enthusiastic fans. Following the most recent confirmation from Tracy, both Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish have commented publicly too.

In an interview with People in February 2023, Regina said that she found out the plan for the movie to be set in Ghana "in real-time with everyone else." She added, "I'm assuming that that's going to be fun. I'm excited to see the girls again and to make something hopefully that the fans love." Regina also shared that production had been pushed back in the past due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also in February, Tiffany was asked by TMZ about the movie confirmation "They say that every year, and I look forward to it," she said of the sequel. Tiffany continued, "I will do anything with those women. I love those people. I loved everybody that worked on that. We had a blast. They wanna work with me, I wanna work with them."

When will Girls Trip 2 be released?

There's no release date for Girls Trip 2 just yet. In January 2023, Variety reported that there wasn't even a production timeline at that point as Tracy was still hard at work on the script. But know it's happening. At some point. Based on the number of teases and confirmations we've gotten, it had better be!
