Killing Eve Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

It’s good to be a Killing Eve fan right now, considering the show was renewed for a fourth season even before season three premiered. Of course, that’s not surprising: The series is a hit, after all. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Killing Eve saw week-over-week growth in its first season in both the age 25–54 and 18–49 demographics, a rare feat in the on-demand video age.

The series stars Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri, an MI6 operative who attempts to track down a dangerous assassin named Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer). The women soon become deeply obsessed with each other, and a cat-and-mouse game like no other ensues. The season two premiere picked up right where the drama left off in the season one finale, guaranteeing the journey ahead will be just as fascinating and intense.

The new premiere date is April 12. Because of everything happening with the coronavirus pandemic, AMC Networks decided to move up the premiere date of Killing Eve season three to give people the addictive, escapist content they need now more than ever. The time is still 9 p.m. ET and will simulcast on both AMC and BBC America.

“We know how adored this series is, and we know how keen people are for great content right now,” said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios. “This season of Killing Eve digs deep psychologically, and with actors like Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw, the results are nothing short of astonishing. We literally couldn’t wait for fans to see it.”

There will be a new showrunner for season three. Killing Eve truly is a show made for women by women. For season three, British writer Suzanne Heathcote (from Fear the Walking Dead) will take over for Emerald Fennell. (Fennel took over from season one creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.)

“I’m very excited that the Killing Eve baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for season three. We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote’s hilariously murderous hands,” Waller-Bridge told The Hollywood Reporter.

“We love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw on our networks,” AMC Networks group president Sarah Barnett added in a statement. “Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons. As we did last year, we’re renewing Killing Eve right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence—we adore this show as much as our fans do. Killing Eve doesn’t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.”

Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw will obviously return. Eve’s partner and computer expert Kenny (Sean Delaney), MI6 agent Caroline Martens (Fiona Shaw), and the rest of Eve’s team are also expected to return.

Past showrunners will still stay on to executive-produce. The new team won’t be left in the lurch. As the Hollywood Reporter explains, Sally Woodward Gentle, co-showrunner on season two, will stay on as one of the executive producers on season three. She will be joined by Lee Morris, Waller-Bridge, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas, Sandra Oh, and Jeff Mevloin.
