Millie Bobby Brown will return for more Victorian-era action as Sherlock's younger sister in Enola Holmes 2. Telling the tale of the lesser known crime-fighting Holmes, the first movie garnered an estimated 76 million views after its September 2020 premiere. In May, Netflix announced that there will a sequel, but little else about the film has been shared publicly. Here's everything we know so far.

Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill are reprising their roles.

Brown will return to her role as as Enola and Cavill as older brother Sherlock, per the press release from Netflix. It's still unknown if other original cast members such as Sam Claflin (of The Hunger Games and Peaky Blinders fame), who played Mycroft Holmes, or Helena Bonham Carter, who played their mother, will appear in the sequel.

“I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family!,” Brown said in the release. “Enola holds a special place in my heart–she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”

The film will be a collaboration between Netflix and Legendary.

Enola Holmes 2 will reportedly be directed by Henry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve). Jack Thorne will return as the writer. Producers include Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, and Ali Mendes. Millie Bobby Brown and her sister Paige Brown will also get producer credits.

It's based on a book series.

And no, we don't mean the Arthur Conan Doyle classics. While certainly inspired by the tales of the oft-portrayed Sherlock Holmes, the Millie Bobby Brown films are in fact based on Nancy Springer’s Edgar Award-nominated six-book series, The Enola Holmes Mysteries. Set in Victorian England, the novels center around Enola's investigation into the disappearance of her mother, and the mysteries that begin to unravel as Enola searches for her.

While further information about the release date, cast, and plot haven't yet been shared, fans can read ahead in the books for clues as to what might transpire on screen. In the meantime, you can stream the first movie on Netflix.
