Volume 2 of the first season of Unsolved Mysteries dropped on Netflix this October, and of the mysterious cases explored thus far, Episode 6, "Stolen Kids," is one of the most unsettling.

In the episode, we learn of the disappearances of two young children in the Harlem area of New York City back in 1989: 2-year-old Christopher Dansby and 19-month-old Shane Walker, who both disappeared from the same public park in the Harlem area of New York roughly three months apart. Tragically, there have been very little updates regarding their disappearances since 1989, though there are some prevailing theories. Here's what we know so far:

What are the theories surrounding Christopher Dansby and Shane Walker's disappearances?

Toward the end of the episode, viewers learn of one theory that emerged in the days immediately following their disappearance: It's possible both Dansby and Walker were maybe abducted as part of a "baby-selling ring," largely because of the similarities between the two disappearances in timing and location. Another more general theory speculated upon by Lindahl is that the two were abducted from the park by individuals who likely could not have children. (The 1987 kidnapping of Carlina White, also from Harlem, was used as an example.)

Sadly, both Dansby and Walker remain missing, and Ken Lindahl, a now retired NYPD inspector seen in the episode, said that no information ever surfaced to support the theory of a baby-selling ring. In other words, everything remains pure speculation, including the two disappearances being linked to one another.

Have there been any updates?

Sadly, no. Though, the episode does leave out another possible connection. In 1989, 22-year-old Monique Rivera was found murdered in the Bronx area of New York after being invited on a shopping trip with two unidentified women. Her then-six-week-old son Andre Bryant, who was with her at the time, also disappeared. Nearly two months later, Dansby would disappear, and roughly three months after that, Walker would disappear. Though there is no information to suggest the cases are linked, the timing of the disappearances has been seen as suspect.
