Hello to all the people who believe 2018’s A Star Is Born should have won Best Picture. I have excellent news for you: A new show coming to Amazon is going to absolutely rock your world. It’s called Daisy Jones & the Six, starring Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, and Suki Waterhouse, and it’s based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The book tells the story of a since-broken-up rock band that at one point had basically taken over the world and the love triangle at the center of it all that brought it down. The book is so readable that I finished the whole thing in a day, and I’m crossing every appendage on my body hoping the series is the same. Here’s everything you need to know about the show.

What is it based on?

Like I mentioned up there, it’s based on Reid’s best-selling novel Daisy Jones & the Six, which follows a band that has broken up as they walk through how all the drama went down and why they eventually decided not to make music together anymore. It’s slightly similar to everything that went down with Fleetwood Mac in real life, but the book is about a fictional band. It’s a super-juicy read, and hopefully the show will feel the same way.

Do we have a trailer?

YES. I will be watching this on repeat for the foreseeable future.

Who’s in the cast?

This cast is absolutely STACKED, honestly. Here’s who we’re working with:

  • Riley Keough (Daisy Jones)

  • Sam Claflin (Billy Dunne)

  • Josh Whitehouse (Eddie Roundtree)

  • Suki Waterhouse (Karen Sirko)

  • Sebastian Chacon (Warren Rhodes)

  • Will Harrison (Graham Dunne)

  • Camila Morrone (Camila Dunne)

Honestly, casting Elvis’s incredibly-talented-in-her-own-right actor granddaughter Riley Keough as the lead singer of a rock band feels like no-notes, layup casting. Here are some Instagrams the cast shared from set:

Is there a soundtrack?

So the thing about the book is that the fictional band within has original songs, and for the show, the team behind it decided they wanted to record a full album original to the series. Almost like how Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper recorded a whole list of original songs for A Star Is Born. Phoebe Bridgers cowrote the soundtrack for Daisy Jones, so…be prepared to have it absolutely wreck you. We already have the first single from the album:

Where and when can I stream it?

It’s going to be on Amazon Prime, which is great, and it premieres March 3. Episodes roll out weekly on Fridays.
