In a world full of reboots, The CW's Kung Fu is a welcome change. As a remake of the 1972 series, this show has little to no connection to the original and that's a good thing. Legacies star Olivia Liang shines as Nickey Shen, a young woman who decides to drop out of college and fight against the Triad in San Francisco while also tracking down the person who killed her mentor. The series has already become an instant hit for The CW, making it their biggest Wednesday night show in the last seven years. With season 1 currently underway and record breaking viewing numbers, we're already crossing our fingers for a second season.

*Major spoilers for season 1 of Kung Fu below!*

Here's everything you need to know about Kung Fu season 2.

Is Kung Fu coming back for season 2?

Luckily for all of us, Kung Fu has officially been renewed for a second season. Only four episodes in, the series has already been a proven hit for The CW and received a quick renewal alongside Stargirl.

"We are beyond proud to continue to share the stories of Nicky Shen and Courtney Whitmore, two strong, powerful young women at the center of this new generation of hit shows for The CW in Kung Fu and DC's Stargirl," said CEO Mark Pedowitz in a press release. "While each boasts remarkable talent on both sides of the camera, Kung Fu and DC's Stargirl have not only treated fans to some visually stunning action and high-flying heroics, but they also both strike very powerful emotional chords as they delve into the family dynamics and personal relationships at their core, and we are so excited to see what happens next."

Olivia revealed on her Instagram that filming for season one was completed on April 30, so it'll be a little while until the cast gets back together to start on season 2.

Who is coming back for Kung Fu season 2?

We've already seen Nickey lose Pei-Ling and anything can happen when it comes to the Triad. While we're hoping that we won't have to say goodbye to any of our favorite characters, we already know that not everyone is safe.

When will Kung Fu season 2 premiere?

Based off the new scheduling, Kung Fu is a mid-season series for The CW. If the show returns for another season and The CW returns to its normal broadcasting schedule, we should expect it to come back in January 2022.
