The Book Club is reconvening ... for a sequel!

Icons Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen reunited for this next chapter, which takes their characters overseas.

The sequel, titled Book Club: The Next Chapter, follows best friends Diane (Keaton), Vivian (Fonda), Sharon (Bergen) and Carol (Steenburgen) as they head to Europe for a bachelorette party.

"The book says that we can't reject our destiny," Steenburgen's character tells her friends as she holds up the book The Alchemist in the official teaser trailer. "And I think we should all go to Italy."

"We might never have a chance to do something like this again," Carol adds.

However, "When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure," according to Focus Features.

When is the Book Club: The Next Chapter release date?

The movie, directed by Bill Holderman, comes out May 12, 2023—just in time for Mother's Day!

Who is in the Book Club: The Next Chapter cast?

The book club as well as other characters from the original movie returned for the sequel. Here is the cast of Book Club: The Next Chapter:

Diane Keaton 

The Oscar Winner plays book club member and widow Diane. Keaton's character wound up falling for Mitchell (Andy Garcia) in the first movie.

Jane Fonda

The award-winning actress reprised her role as book club member Vivian, who reconnected with her former love in 2018's Book Club. Fonda's character is engaged this time around.

Candice Bergen

The Murphy Brown star is back as Sharon, another book club member and federal judge.

Mary Steenburgen

The Melvin and Howard actress returned to play book club member Carol.

Craig T. Nelson

Nelson played Carol's husband Bruce in the first movie.

Andy Garcia

Garcia played Mitchell, whom Diane fell for after meeting on a flight.

Don Johnson 

Johnson played Arthur, Vivian's former love, in the Book Club, and judging by the teaser he's now her fiancé in the second movie. 

Giancarlo Giannini

The Italian actor is new to the cast.
