As Prince Harry's highly-anticipated memoir Spare is set to debut on January 10, he has been open about his marriage to Meghan Markle and living in the shadow of his father, King Charles III and his brother, Prince William. But in between disclosing details about his royal childhood to various outlets, folks may have missed a surprising comment he made about two special people in his life.

In a new video his ITV interview with Tom Bradby, the Duke of Sussex opened up about what it has been like to see his children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana, grow up together. He shared how the duo often interact with each other, with his eldest often needing to take some time away from his younger sister. After seeing their dynamic, Prince Harry revealed he now understands one element from his own formative years.

"The gap between me and William is very similar to Archie and Lili," he said in a clip shared on TikTok by Hello!. "To see Lili obsessed with Archie and Archie like 'No, no Lili, I need my space, I need my space' — now I get it."

Prince Harry continued: "I get how irritating the younger sibling can be to the older sibling. But in the moment, at the time, I didn't really grasp that, I didn't really realize it."

According to him, there are many things spectators didn't realize about how the two were raised, even before his estrangement from Prince William happened.

"I think [it] will really surprise people, the fact that we grew up ... I mean our mother was dressing us in the same clothes to start with," he disclosed on ITV. "William didn't like that, I think I seem to remember I found it quite funny ... But the older, younger sort of sibling rivalry as such, now is only really becoming real to me."

When asked for an example of this in Spare, Prince Harry responded: "For instance, I talk about the relationship between William and myself at Eton and the fact that he didn't really want to know me, and you know, as the younger brother that sucks. It's like 'Come on, you left me at Ludgrove and now I'm here at Eton — now we're at the same school, let's go.' He didn’t want anything to do with me and that hurt at the time."

As Prince Harry prepares for Spare to hit book shelves, people may wonder how the Prince of Wales and the reigning King of England will take to his telling of events. As he emphasized, releasing his memoir comes from a very personal place.

"I love my father. I love my brother. I love my family. I will always do," he concluded. "Nothing of what I've done in this book or otherwise has ever been to, uh, any intention to harm them or hurt them. You know, the truth is something that I need to rely on."
