At the 2024 Golden Globes, shades of silver and gold ruled the red carpet, with the likes of Emma Stone, America Ferrara, Elizabeth Debicki partaking in the trend.
Held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, the Globes kick off awards season and serve, in a sense, as a preview of all the red-carpet glitz and glamour to come. Arguably, what celebrities wear to the Golden Globes matters just as much, if not more, than what they’ll eventually wear to the Oscars because the Globes mark our first chance to envision each nominee as a winner.
Perhaps that’s the logic underpinning the long history of celebrities dressing like trophies during awards season. You have to dress for the promotion you want, no?
Barbie star America Ferrera graced the red carpet in a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown covered in silver sequins and pearl embellishments.
Elizabeth Debicki, who won best female actor in a supporting role for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, was giving gladiator-queen vibes in a gown that looked like chainmail.
Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson, meanwhile, selected a Balmain halter-top gown trimmed with cutouts and dusted with fine silver glitter.
Emily Blunt sported a strappy gilded minidress that plunged into a sheer white floor-length skirt.
Poor Things star Emma Stone stepped out in a custom Louis Vuitton naked dress decked in pastel pink and silver floral appliqués.
Kate Beckinsale brought the no-pants trend to the Globes in a silver metallic bodysuit with a translucent skirt and a flouncy tulle rosette near the neck.
Naomi Watts went for a sculptural chrome one-shouldered gown.
Julia Garner wore a Gucci sequined gown that plunged so low it nearly reached her bellybutton.
Lisa Ann Walter added opera sleeves to a silver strapless number with a dramatic train from Alin le’ Kal.
Skai Jackson sparkled in a beaded and belted gown with a sequined skirt from Jenny Packham for her 2024 Golden Globes look.
