If you’re even remotely into perfume, there’s a 99 percent chance you’ve heard of Baccarat Rouge 540. This expensive fragrance from Maison Francis Kurkdjian has gone viral numerous times on TikTok with over 865 million views. Many people say it's the most recognizable scent of all time, and some fans even say it's the best perfume of all time. The poetic blend of spicy saffron and effervescent jasmine mingle with warm amber and cedar to create a luxe, mysterious, soft perfume that automatically makes anyone more attractive, IMO. Everybody who has smelled it will agree that it’s pure magic. That said, with such prestige comes a high price tag. A 2.4-ounce bottle will cost you $325… that’s the price of luxury, bb.

Although I’m a firm believer that investing in a swanky signature scent is always a good idea, I understand that not everyone has the means or the desire to do so. Luckily, for those dead set on smelling like BR540 without the hefty price tag, you have options—12 to be exact. I set out on a mission to find the best Baccarat Rouge 540 dupes to help you feel rich without, well, going broke to smell like it. In the process, I compared dozens of fragrances side by side with the OG to see (err...smell) how similar they actually are, including these faves below:

Now, there’s no replicating something as iconic as BR540, but these 12 affordable picks come pretty darn close if I do say so myself. Most people won’t even be able to tell the difference, so be sure to send your thank you card in the mail when someone asks ‘Are you wearing Baccarat Rouge?’ mmmkay?

Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum

Before we can dive into the dupes, we need to chat about the original Maison Francis Kurkdijan's Baccarat Rouge 540. There's a reason everyone is so obsessed with this jasmine-dominant fragrance: It's light and airy yet warm and enveloping—it's really unlike any other perfume (you know, until everyone started making similar versions).

Yes, it's extremely expensive, but all you need is one spritz to last all day long, meaning the bottle will last a pretty long time. But if you're a lil scared of the price tag, you've got a whole slew of cheaper options below.

  • Key notes: Jasmine, saffron, cedarwood, ambergris

  • Size: 1.2, 2.4, 6.8 oz

Glowing customer review: "This is a very interesting perfume! There is an airy and crystalline quality to this and never feels heavy which many vanilla-based perfumes tend to do. It’s an ethereal vanilla with hints of citrus in the opening and florals that have just bloomed but it’s a cool spring day so they aren’t always apparent. One spritz to the wrist lasted until the next day."

Ambery Saffron

Dossier excels at crafting inexpensive, cheap perfumes inspired by the most $$$ fragrances out there. Take it from me and my ~highly~ trained nose when I say all of their dupes are pretty spot on. Out of all of the scents I tested, this was the closest to the O.G. and actually smells even more rich and layered, IMO. In fact, in a blind smell test, my friends thought this was the real BR540. When people think the dupe is the original…let’s just say that’s a mic-drop moment.

The main differentiator between this and the real BR540 is the pungency of the top notes. In Dossier’s iteration, spicy saffron really commands attention and lingers longer than I expect for a top note. I can still catch whiffs of the spice and juicy orange blossom for about an hour after spritzing before the heart of jasmine, plum, and cedarwood take center stage.

  • Key notes: Saffron, orange blossom, jasmine, plum, cedarwood, oakmoss, fir balsam, amber

  • Size: 1.7 oz

Glowing customer review: “Where has Dossier been all my life?! The first time I smelled Baccarat Rouge 540, I knew it had to be mine. Then I was told the price and knew that was not going to happen. Thank the perfume gods I found Dossier and was able to get the exact same smell for a fraction of the price!”

In the Stars Fine Fragrance Mist

Bath & Body Works fragrance mists take me back to childhood. Initially I convinced myself that they were too juvenile for my adult selt, which I was very wrong about because In The Stars smells wildly similar to Baccarat Rouge. At first glance at the notes, you'd have no idea, as they don't really line up. But this mist gives off the same sophisticated vibes as BR540. It’s woody, warm, and subtly sweet thanks to a combination of sandalwood, musk, agarwood, starflower, and amber. The most refined noses will be able to tell the difference between this and the real thing, but you’ll definitely fool everyone else.

  • Key notes: Starflower, sandalwood musk, sugared tangelo, white agarwood, radiant amber

  • Size: 8 oz

Glowing customer review: “If you are looking for a unique, woodsy, feminine scent, this is for you. If you are looking for a Baccarat Rouge 540 or whatever that extremely overpriced perfume is called, in my opinion, this scent is extremely close to it. I love the way this scent changes with my chemistry as I wear it throughout the day! It gets better and better as time goes on.”

Brazilian Crush Cheirosa '68 Beija Flor Hair & Body Fragrance Mist

I’ve been wearing this Sol de Janeiro body spray for years, long before Baccarat Rouge 540 was even on my radar. So when I finally sniffed MFK’s blend for the first time, my first thought was, “wow, this smells like Cheirosa ‘68.” In my mind, BR540 will always be a *much more expensive* dupe for this affordable mist. When I compare the two side by side, this pink-tinged fragrance smells just a tad brighter and sweeter, thanks to the pink dragonfruit note. But it lasts just as long as the EDP (if not longer). Consider it Baccarat’s carefree, summer-y cousin.

  • Key notes: Brazilian jasmine, pink dragonfruit, transparent vanilla

  • Size: 3.04 and 8.01 oz

Glowing customer review: “My go to fragrance mist. It smells a little bit like baccarat rouge 540 if you enjoy that scent. I ALWAYS get compliments on it!!”

Cloud Eau de Parfum

When I started researching the best Baccarat Rouge 540 dupes, at least eight people told me that Ariana Grande’s Cloud needed to make this list. (A friend even shared that one day he asked his BFF if she was wearing Cloud, but it was actually the real BR540…she promptly threw a fit. RIP.)

After testing it, I agree that there are some similarities. However, I find Ariana Grande’s fragrance to be much more fruity and juicy, probably because it’s packed with notes of pear, bergamot, and creme de coconut. It has more of a BR540 feel once it dries down though, thanks to a touch of musks and woods.

  • Key notes: Lavender blossom, juicy pear, bergamot, creme de coconut, praline, vanilla orchid, musks, blonde woods

  • Size: 1, 1.7, and 3.4 oz

Glowing customer review: “Many people were raving about this fragrance, even saying it was a dupe for MFK's Baccarat Rouge 540. I understand the craze. This is sweet, but also kind of fresh/woodsy. It is a strong scent. Even hours after I've put it on, I can still smell it intensely.”

Elixir No. 29

Perfame’s whole mission is to create affordable and sustainable dupes of some of the most renowned perfumes in the world. And let me tell you, they know what they’re doing. I’ve sniffed so many of their elixirs, and they’re all on point. Elixir No. 29, which is their dupe of BR540, smells nearly identical (which makes sense since the notes are pretty much the same), but dare I say it lasts longer than the original.

The brand crafts its clean and vegan scents with a higher concentration of oils, so you can still catch wafts of the fragrance throughout the day. Some affordable options fade after a few hours (or less), yet I found that this one lasts from morning to night. And not in an overpowering, headache-inducing kind of way either. Also, you can feel good about your purchase knowing that a portion of your sale goes towards buying toiletries for the Salvation Army.

  • Key notes: Saffron, jasmine, amberwood, ambergris, fir resin, cedar

  • Size: 1.7 oz

Glowing customer review: “This fragrance never fails to garner compliments. Every time I enter a room or walk by someone, I'm often told how wonderful I smell. Given that the original scent it's inspired by costs more than $400 it's undoubtedly a worthy dupe.”

Crystal No. 23

Extrait de parfums are the most concentrated perfumes—AKA they last longer way than EDTs and EDPs on your skin—and therefore are the most expensive. (Just take a look at the price of Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum…it’s about $100 more than the eau de parfum 😬). So, you can imagine my surprise at the cost of Alt. Crystal No. 23. The full-size bottle is just under $60, and this baby doesn’t skimp on strength. A single spritz will last the entire day (longer than the O.G., but you didn’t hear that from me), and the sillage is just as impressive.

This is truly *almost* indistinguishable from the real BR540. However, it has a refreshing crispness with the addition of rosemary. Overall, it’s one of those exceptional perfumes that I’ll be saving for special occasions.

  • Key notes: Jasmine, saffron, orange, evernyl, ambroxan, cedarwood, ambergris, fir balsam

  • Size: 1, 2, and 3.3 oz

Glowing customer review: “This perfume is spot on. I’m always asked if I’m wearing Baccarat Rouge 540. I even went into their store in Miami and wasn’t questioned if what I was wearing was a ‘dupe’ VERY pleased. Will purchase again”

Amber Haze Hair & Body Fragrance Mist

Forget a lavender haze, I want to stay in an Amber Haze (sry, TayTay, LYSM!). I’m a huge fan of Phlur’s EDPs, but their body mists shouldn’t be slept on, especially this seductive pick that smells eerily similar to Baccarat Rouge 540, thanks to the comparable notes. A bunch of notes—hi, saffron, jasmine, and amber—overlap with BR540, though Phlur’s iteration has a warmer, sweeter finish that sits close to skin, courtesy of a touch of vanilla and musk. TBH, I sometimes go a little spritz-happy with this, not just cause it smells amazing, but also because the light, uniform mist it produces is oh-so-satisfying.

  • Key notes: Saffron, jasmine absolute, amber, vanilla, musk, oakmoss

  • Size: 8 oz

Glowing customer review: “It smells just like MFK Baccarat Rouge, just not as potent. Each time I wear this someone asks me what it is. It’s the perfect balance of spicy and sweet.”

Red Temptation

If Baccarat Rouge 540 was the angel on your shoulder, Zara Red Temptation would be the devilish counterpart. This under-$50 dupe has a kick to it right off the bat with a mix of saffron and coriander. It’s pungent yet not off-putting—the combo gives it more of a ~seductive~ twist than the MFK perfume. That zestiness dissipates and makes way for bright bitter orange and jasmine before this unique, well-balanced scent settles in a warm cloud of sweet praline, amber, and musk. I find it hot, sweet, and frankly irresistible. I didn’t expect a Zara perfume to have lasting power, but let’s just say you won’t need a refresh at all when you wear this.

  • Key notes: Saffron, coriander, bitter orange, jasmine, praline, moss, amber, musk

  • Size: 2.71 oz

Glowing customer review: “A friend gave me a tester of Baccarat Rouge 540 and it smelled so yummy! But the price tag was not. I bought two bottles of this and was so happy I did. It smells 98% like Baccarat Rouge 540 and it lasts so long. I spritzed it on my arm to test it, went about my day and still could smell it on me hours later. Get it!”

Dream Moon Spray Perfume

If the tween girls continue their Sephora rampages, I fear that they’ll soon discover Baccarat Rouge 540 (the horror!). But if they want a similar vibe without the expensive price, they should try Pacifica Dream Moon instead. This inexpensive perfume can be worn by anyone, although it does skew a bit young. If I knew about this in my teens, it, for sure, would’ve been my signature scent. It’s certainly not as complex as BR540, but regardless, it shares the same aura with a mix of woods and florals. The vibrant bottle instantly sparks joy too.

  • Key notes: Patchouli, sandalwood, pink rose

  • Size: 1 oz

Glowing customer review: “I have the real Baccarat Rouge and it smells exactly the same. So buy this, it's a legit dupe.”

Dans Les Bois Eau de Toilette

If you’ve been searching for a scent comparable to Baccarat Rouge 540 that doesn't irritate your sensitive skin, let me introduce you to Dime Dans Les Bois. This eau de toilette is formulated with organic cane sugar alcohol instead of alcohol SD 40, a common perfume additive that can trigger irritation. Plus, it’s also Leaping Bunny-certified, vegan, and cruelty-free.

As for the smell, it’s almost identical to its much more expensive counterpart. The red saffron note comes on strong after the initial spritz, but soon after it mellows as fir balsam, jasmine, and sweet amber make an appearance (and stay around for like four hours). I love that even though it’s under $50, the bottle still looks and feels incredibly luxe—like, it totally deserves a front and center spot on your vanity.

  • Key notes: Red saffron, almond, fir balsam, jasmine, sweet amber, ambrox, cedarwood, ambergris, moss

  • Size: 1.7 oz

Glowing customer review: “Why is no one mentioning that this smells similar to BR 540?? The saffron, ambergris and jasmine really come together to smell like a dupe for me.. it lasts about 10 hours on my skin and it's intoxicating. From the first spray to dry down. My husband is also a huge fan, which is a plus. I also love the fir balsam, crisp scent. Just so good!”

Impression #333, Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540

This little fragrance oil was inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540—it even says so on the bottle. The notes pretty much mimic the real thing, although a main differentiator has to do with the formula. You won’t find a lick of alcohol in the bottle, just pure perfume oil which enhances the scent’s longevity for all-day wear. I seriously doubt you’ll need to re-up throughout the day, but if you get the urge to apply more, the small slender tube fits into most purses. The size also makes it great for travel!

  • Key notes: Saffron, jasmine, amberwood, ambergris, fir resin, cedar

  • Size: 0.33 oz

Glowing customer review: “I've bought 4 different scents from this company. The Baccarat Rouge [dupe] is my favorite. I get so many compliments, everytime I wear it. I've already used half the bottle. I'll for sure be buying more.”

Pretty Woman Roll-On Perfume

If you love the warm base notes of Baccarat Rouge 540 but aren’t a huge fan of the spicy saffron kick (totally understandable, BTW, that note is pretty polarizing), you’ll absolutely love this little rollerball. A velvety mix of cedar and salted amber feels ultra cozy, plus they sweeten with wear thanks to a tinge of vanilla. And how cute is the pocket-sized bottle?! The small-scale packaging makes it easy to carry around for re-ups. Although you probably won’t need to reapply, because I could still smell this on my skin six hours after rolling it along my pulse points.

  • Key notes: Musky woods, amber, vanilla

  • Size: 0.5 oz

Glowing customer review: “Every time I wear this I get so many compliments. It’s a very feminine fragrance but also very subtle.”

How to choose the best Baccarat Rouge 540 dupe for you:

Consider your budget.

If you’re looking for a dupe of the iconic Baccarat Rouge 540, chances are you’re probably on a budget. So before you start your shopping journey, make sure you set a target price range and stick to it. All of the options on our list are under $70—and some are even under $40—so there’s a truly excellent alt for everyone.

Analyze the notes.

Disclaimer: While all of our picks are worthy alternatives to the O.G. Baccarat Rouge 540, none of them smell exactly the same (even if they come v close). If you want to be as close to the original as possible, pay close attention to the key notes to make sure they match up. BR540 features a mix of saffron, jasmine, ambergris, and cedar, and plenty of the perfumes listed above also contain all or a mix of the same.

For those who aren’t looking for a precise match and are more so trying to capture the same aura, we also included picks that feature some of the same notes but are a bit different. For example, Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ‘68 Beija Flor Hair & Body Fragrance Mist smells like a lighter version perfect for summer thanks to the juicy dragon fruit note, while Life in Lilac Pretty Woman Roll-On Perfume encapsulates the same warm and inviting feeling found in the dry down of BR540 with a mix of amber and cedar.
