National Cycling League’s 2024 Teams AnnouncedNational Cycling League

While we’re still waiting on a full schedule release for the 2024 National Cycling League’s slate of races, we now know the slate of teams that will be competing in the young league.

Each of the top three teams from last year’s three-race season will be returning. NCL Cup winners Miami Nights, last year’s early-season favorites Denver Disruptors, and the Goldman Sachs ETFs Racings’ women’s team, along with their men’s team counterparts, Texas Roadhouse Cycling, will all be back for the 2024 season.

Those teams will be joined by Atlanta Rise Cycling Club, Foundation Cycling New York City, Fount Cycling Guild, Kelly Benefits Strategies Cycling, Team Mike’s Bikes p/b Equator Coffees, Team Skyline-Cadence, and Voler Factory Racing p/b Schnur Racing on the men’s side.

The women’s side will see Atlanta Rise, CCB p/b Levine Law Group (Foundation’s counterparts), Fount Cycling, Primeau Vélo-Groupe Abadie (Kelly Benefits’ counterparts), Monarch Racing (Mike’s Bikes’ counterparts), Skyline Cadence, and Boneshaker p/b Orange Seal.

The league, which was founded in 2022, featured a slate of three races last year, comprising the inaugural NCL Cup. Miami Beach, Denver, and Atlanta all enjoyed the live excitement over the course of last summer.

The league—whose races are officially sanctioned USA Cycling events—has been lauded by many for its innovative and high-energy approach to bike racing. Men and women compete on the same team (though some, like the aforementioned Goldman Sachs ETFs/Texas Roadhouse, race under different names), riding on the same course, though racing separately. The crit-style races are run around a roughly one-mile loop over thirty laps, with teams accumulating points on each lap, depending on rider positions. Additionally, riders can substitute for one another at any point during the race’s first twenty-five laps.

Fans watching along can keep track of data and scoring in real time thanks to the NCL’s innovative live scoreboard, which serves to both heighten the excitement and make it easier to attract and educate new fans.

In a release announcing this year’s teams, Voler Factory Racing p/b Schnur racing’s Phil Mooney said, “NCL’s commitment to team hospitality and its economic structure highlights NCL’s forward thinking approach, which is great for the sport, sponsors, and teams like Voler Factory Racing.”

“After a season of getting a feel for the unique new format in 2023, we’re eager to compete in the 2024 NCL Cup series. The series supplements our race calendar perfectly to support the growth of our athletes, putting them in racing situations that require lightning-fast decisions on the road that result in fun and exciting competition,” added Lauren LeClaire, Sports Director for CCB p/b Levine Law Group. “We’re excited to grow our relationship with the organization in 2024 as an NCL sponsored program. It’s important to us to partner with events that put men and women’s competition equally in the spotlight.”

The release promised that the 2024 NCL Cup’s race locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
