As the Costume Institute's latest exhibit examines the work of Karl Lagerfeld, Vogue set the the dress code for the 2023 Met Gala as simply "in honor of Karl." Obviously, that can be interpreted a number of ways: Guests can wear their best archival pieces by the designer, who passed away in 2019, or they can task brands with reinterpreting some of the aesthetic codes he championed over the course of his career, at houses like Fendi, Chloé and, of course, Chanel. (Chanel is the lead sponsor of this year's Met Gala and exhibit; Fendi and the Karl Lagerfeld brand are also supporting both.)
See what everyone — from co-chairs Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa, to first-timers like Doja Cat, Jennie and Ice Spice — wore to the 2023 Met Gala, below. We'll be updating live throughout the night, so make sure to check back to see all your favorites.
