The Ponytail Braid Trend Every A-List Celeb Is Wearing
Some way, somehow, you’re going to want to figure out how to get a thousand inches of hair, whether that be growing it or by extensions. The It-girls have spoken, and they are doing the ponytail braid trend.
They tried to tell us Clean Girl Aesthetic was over. They tried to take gelled back ponytails away, even though it snatches your cheekbones unlike anything else. But stars like Zendaya, Cara Delevingne, and Nicole Scherzinger are not having it. In the last week, all three of stars wore extremely tight, slicked ponytail braids. But if we look at the data, it appears all three wore this look in London. Maybe city-specific style is back—maybe American fashion scenes are embracing the grit, and the European scene is going more classic. (Although, on the scale of Clean Girl Aesthetic to Indie Sleaze, London would be hard-pressed to give away their grunge.)
This is actually pretty squarely in line with the major trends happening right now. With the Challengers movie coming out soon, the look plays into that really sporty and preppy aesthetic, and Zendaya has been in costume all press tour showing us what that looks like. But beyond that, with the country western vibes and cowboy aesthetic that a lot of popstars are playing with, the braid hits on that too. Not to mention the Simone Rocha Sandy Liang visual of bows, pearls, and pigtails are something we inherited from the last handful of seasons.
