This story has light spoilers for Fire Country season 1.

Needless to say, the season 1 finale of Fire Country left everyone in disbelief.

All season long, viewers watched convict Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot) work at Three Rock as a way to potentially shorten his five-year prison sentence. When he finally got the opportunity to make his case for parole, he suddenly rolled the dice in a way nobody saw coming. Amid things finally looking up for him, Bode learned that he got framed for being a drug dealer at the prison camp. When he also discovered that his luck is the reason a close friend may never leave the establishment, he "confessed" that he relapsed.

This shocking twist certainly left a new chapter to be explored, and fans will get the chance to see it with a season 2 renewal. But with that comes a longer waiting time in order to see the aftermath of Bode's decision. Here's what to know about Fire Country season 2, including cast info, a potential release date, spoilers and more.

Will there be a Fire Country season 2?

In early January, dedicated fans of Cal Fire and Three Rock got the best news. In an announcement released by Deadline, folks learned that Fire Country got renewed for season 2. At the time, the outlet reported the show was the top new broadcast series for the 2022-2023 season. What's more, the publication added that Fire Country garnered an average of eight million viewers per episode ahead of its renewal.

When the news broke about Fire Country returning for an all-new season, the show's social team confirmed it in a special post on Instagram. "This story's not done yet," read the caption. #FireCountry has officially been renewed for season 2! 🔥."

That wasn't the only way Fire Country acknowledged the season 2 announcement. In a video posted on actor/executive producer Max Thieriot's Instagram, folks at CBS surprised him with a cardboard cutout of himself dressed in character.

Double trouble!🔥," the note read. "@firecountrycbs has been renewed for season 2, so naturally we’re celebrating with 2 @maxthieriot’s!"

When will season 2 of Fire Country premiere?

As for whether Fire Country season 2 will air in 2023, it's highly unlikely due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. When Stephanie Arcila revealed to Parade that production was meant to start in early July, she felt that the strikes could potentially impact the show.

"This is my first time going through a writers' strike, so I'm learning a lot," she said. "I hope that everyone gets what's fair for them. At the end of the day, we're all artists... The hardest thing with the strike is that it's likely going to determine the number of episodes that we can do."

Meanwhile, CBS dropped its official fall TV schedule on Instagram that didn't show Fire Country listed.
