Here’s Every 2019 Color of the Year, So Far
Interior designers and color fanatics wait for it all year—and no, it's not Christmas. Each fall, color experts like Pantone, Behr, Valspar, and Sherwin-Williams predict which paint colors will be the “it” shades in the upcoming year. Historically, the colors have all followed a certain trend, like in 2016 when the paint experts unanimously gravitated towards neutral or muted colors. But color predictions for 2019 are breaking all kinds of boundaries. See all the different colors of the year below—there’s truly something for everyone! Living Coral by Pantone
Pantone is seen as the authority on color, so every year people wait with anticipation to see their pick for Color of the Year. For 2019, they chose a vibrant but soft shade of orange-red, called Living Coral. As the name suggests, the color is similar to coral but slightly muted, making it more livable. The Pantone Color Institute, the experts who choose the color of the year, says the 2019 pick was inspired by energizing aspects of nature and the intimacy and connectivity of social media.

Metropolitan by Benjamin Moore
In a very busy world with neon lights and inescapable screens, Benjamin Moore wants people to pause. Reflecting that is their 2019 color of the year, Metropolitan. The greige hue is soothing, calm, and brings peace to your home. The neutral color fits well with Benjamin Moore's 2019 palette, which features soft neutrals with a few pinks and blues thrown into the mix. For homeowners shy of bold color, this is a great go-to choice in a living room or kitchen.

Blueprint by Behr
Behr took a sensible approach to color with its 2019 color of the year, Blueprint. The chalky blue hue can easily be imagined in all rooms, whether it’s a kitchen, bedroom, or basement. As its name suggests, Blueprint is meant to encourage homeowners to build the life they want through color. Along with the color of the year announcement, Behr also released 2019 trend palettes, all of which use Blueprint as a starting point.

Night Watch by PPG
Night Watch is PPG's pick for 2019 color of the year, and it is rich, moody, and surprisingly calming. PPG representatives describe the color as an evolution of their 2018 color of the year, which was a similar but darker shade. In a press release, PPG's senior color marketing manager said Night Watch is about "bringing the healing power from the outdoors into your home through color.” Because Night Watch is heavily influenced by nature, it’s easy to pair with a variety of wood species and finishes.

Cavern Clay by Sherwin-Williams
As southwestern style continues to rise in popularity, it’s no surprise that one of the paint giants used it to inspire its 2019 color of the year. Sherwin-Williams revealed Cavern Clay, an earthy neutral somewhere between burnt orange and tan. One look at the color and we’re instantly reminded of terra-cotta vases and adobe homes. Pair this warm shade with light woods, Aztec prints, layered textures, faux cowhide rugs, and plenty of cacti. Sherwin-Williams also offered key color combinations to round out your 2019 color palette.

Pineapple Cream Granita by Ace Hardware
While some manufacturers went bold with their color choice, Ace Hardware's Clark+Kensington paint brand went a little more neutral. Pineapple Cream Granita is a slightly yellow hue true to its name. It’s also the only color of the year chosen by homeowners. To narrow down their color of the year finalists, Ace Hardware let fans vote on their social media channels. In the end, more than 35,000 color enthusiasts voted, and Pineapple Cream Granita took the prize.

Reflecting Pool by HGTV Home
The folks at HGTV Home opted for versatility when choosing a paint color for 2019. Reflecting Pool is a vibrant light blue, which stands out among the year's more muted shades. HGTV Home paired Reflecting Pool with three of their highlighted color palettes—Sophisticated Whimsy, Mystic Light, and Everyday Balance—to emphasize the color’s usability. When paired with other bold colors its vibrancy is amplified, but when used in a room full of neutrals it adds a soft, colorful touch to the space.

Colors of the Year Collection by Valspar
Valspar will turn 10 years old in 2019, so to mark the paint company’s first decade, they curated not one but 12 colors of the year. The shades reflect recent design trends, as opposed to focusing on just one. We see the hygge trend represented in soft colors like Rosy Mauve and Illuminated Violet, and Sea Green and Natural Olive remind us of the surge in houseplant popularity. Altogether, the Valspar colors of the year make an energetic palette, so pick your favorites and pair them with neutrals to tone it down.
