Upon seeing those major cliffhangers in After We Fell, you're probably wondering what's next for Hessa. There isn't too much info about the upcoming movie just yet, but we've got a bit of tea to spill — read on for a breakdown of everything you want to know, from the cast to the release date.

*Major spoilers for the After movies below!*

When does After Ever Happy come out?

After Ever Happy had a limited theatrical release on September 7, 2022, but Netflix just revealed the best gift After fans will be receiving this holiday season. The latest movie in the After series hits the streaming service on Christmas day, according to a post by its official Instagram account.

Are there any trailers for After Ever Happy?

Yes! On July 14, the official trailer for After Ever Happy dropped, sending fans spiraling. In the clip, we see the twist and turns, the emotional rollercoaster of the relationship, and plenty of steamy scenes, alongside fights, as the couple navigates time apart. As well as Hardin's book venture, which threatens to reveal their dark love story to the world.

On April 7, a second teaser trailer dropped ahead of the film's September release. In the one-minute clip, Hardin and Tessa continue to question the strength of their relationship, as Hardin processes the shocking family secrets that came to light in After We Fell. "All of us have demons," Tessa narrates toward the trailer's climactic ending. "You face them, but just when you think you're winning, it turns out they weren't your demons, to begin with."

The first teaser for the final chapter of the After series was released at the end of 2021. Again, we see a drama-filled supercut of Hardin and Tessa while they have a conversation about the fate of their romance. "I thought we had a love that was out of a novel, and no matter how hard it was, we would survive to tell the story," Tessa says in the voiceover. Hardin reassures her that their love can survive, to which she responds "I don't wanna survive. I wanna live." In the end, she says "I'm sorry I couldn't fix you."

We've seen everything the couple has been through in the first three After movies, and let's just say that After Ever Happy is just as eventful.

What will After Ever Happy be about?

After We Fell ended with tons of cliffhangers, so the upcoming film will most likely address all the questions fans have been asking. From Tessa's move to Seattle to Hardin's relationship with his biological father, there's a lot to unpack in After Ever Happy. Plus, the After movies are based on the book series of the same name by Anna Todd, so there's a chance the source material will call for some inspo.

The After Ever Happy book's official synopsis on Simon and Schuster's website reads as follows:

As the shocking truth about each of their families emerges, it's clear the two lovers are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin—any more than he is the cruel, moody boy she fell so hard for. Tessa understands all the troubling emotions brewing beneath Hardin’s exterior, and she knows she’s the only one who can calm him when he erupts. He needs her.

But the more layers of his past come to light, the darker he grows, and the harder he pushes Tessa—and everyone else in his life—away. Tessa’s not sure if she really can save him—not without sacrificing herself. She refuses to go down without a fight. But who is she fighting for—Hardin or herself?

Will Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin return for After Ever Happy?

Yes, but After Ever Happy is the last time we see Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin reprise their roles as Tessa and Hardin. The stars shot both After We Fell and After Ever After back to back, according to a post by the film's official Twitter profile.

In the clip, Hero and Josephine thank fans for their support of the After movies. It appears to be a bittersweet wrap for Hero as he turns to the crew and thanks them for their hard work on the films.

However, that doesn't mean that's the end of Hessa's story. Per Teen Vogue, there are more After movies in the works: one inspired by the prequel novel titled Before, which dives into Hardin's life prior to his romance with Tessa, and another sequel that focuses on the lives of Hessa's children. According to POPSUGAR, since these two films focus on younger and older versions of Hardin and Tessa, neither Josephine Langford or Hero Fiennes Tiffin will return.
