Evan Peters's role as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was electrifying. The actor's dedication to the role helped the limited series become one of Netflix's biggest and most-watched series.

Signing on to play a notorious killer who murdered 17 men was a very difficult decision for the 35-year-old. Despite his initial reluctance and hesitation to accept the role of Dahmer, Evan dug deep to nail his performance. Netflix hosted a conversation with the show's creator Ryan Murphy and its cast, where Evan opened up about his preparation process for the part and the one comedy he used to help readjust to everyday life once the dark series wrapped.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Evan wore weights on his arms to perfectly mimic Dahmer's walking style. He wore shoes, jeans, and glasses worn by Dahmer for months and conducted thorough research and dialect work to get deep into character. "Doing the role, I wanted to give it 120 percent the whole way through, so I brought in a lot of darkness and negativity," Evan said.

His colleague and co-star Niecy Nash joked about how well Evan got into character. "People will say, 'What is Evan like?' and I'm like, 'I don't know, I don't know that man.'"

For Evan, focusing on the finished product encouraged him to push through the challenges of starring in such a complex series. "It was just having that end goal in sight, knowing when we were going to wrap and finally being able to breathe and let it go and say, 'OK, now it's time to bring in the joy and the lightness and watch comedies and romances and go back to St. Louis and see my family and friends and yeah, watch Step Brothers.'"
