If you compare current pictures of Eva Mendes to those taken 10 years ago, you’ll notice one thing: the actress still has a youthful glow. She’s perfected her skincare routine with a few staples that deliver her signature sun-kissed radiance, but she has never shied away from trying something new. In a recent Instagram post, Mendes showed off her new favorite beauty tool championed by Dr. Mariana Vergara called The Golden Wand. Oh, and it’s only $20.

In the clip, the mom of two enjoys a facial massage as the V-shaped tool rolls upwards on her cheekbones and her delicate under-eye area. “As you know, I love supporting female owned businesses. Fellow Latina @marianalvergara’s Golden Wand is finally available,” Mendes captioned the post. “Since I can’t see her as much as I’d like to during these times, her affordable beauty tool is helping me fight gravity a little bit. (Don’t tell this to my face but I think gravity has the lead).”

These types of rollers are designed to stimulate blood circulation and help the skin absorb products like serums or face creams.

Another beauty massager she has in her bag is the ZIIP Beauty Tool. While it’s pricier, costing just under $500, Mendes told Glamour UK in 2018 that she loves to use it on her face. The device gives the user an electric facial, which comes in handy for at-home treatments.

But what about her other skincare secrets? Below, exactly what Mendes to keep her complexion in tip-top shape at 46.

She’s obsessed with coconut oil.

The Hitch actress is religious about applying coconut oil everywhere. And when we say everywhere, we certainly mean it. “I’m on the coconut oil bandwagon, so I use it on more than my hair,” she told Redbook. “It’s my moisturizer for my hands, body, even my face.” She’s even dished about using coconut oil to hydrate chapped lips in a Facebook Q&A back in 2015. It’s the one consistent essential that comes straight from her kitchen.

To achieve soft skin, exfoliation is a must.

When she’s in a rush, Mendes throws together a few ingredients to make her own face scrub. “When it comes to skincare, I love using things I can find in my kitchen cabinet,” she previously Violet Grey. “I combine yogurt and sea salt to exfoliate.” Four years later, she still says this home remedy is a staple, per her interview with Glamour UK. “It really works!”

Hydration is key.

Mendes makes sure she’s drinking water every chance she gets. If not, she says it shows on her skin. “For me, glowing skin comes from the inside. I start to get sallow if I’m not eating well. I take fish oil supplements,” she previously told Shape. “I also drink a lot of water. I always keep a bottle with me and kind of force myself to drink. My skin just looks better when I’m hydrated.

In the massage roller post above, a fan asked “Beautiful skin! What other tips can you give us?” and Mendes had a similar response. “Honestly I’m so bad these days. I’m all kids all the time so I’m neglecting my number one rule which is WATER. After that, I take fish oils daily (I know this is not for everyone I’m just sharing what I do) and then I try out new treatments when I can with @marianalvergara. Some things work better than others. But really I start from inside out.”

Her morning routine is simple.

Even though she gulps down water, Mendes avoids splashing it on her face in the morning. “OK, so this may sound gross but I save time by not washing my face in the morning. It’s one less thing to do and I find that water is drying to my face,” she said in her Facebook Q&A.

Her no-fuss skincare routine is all about the essentials. “Basically I have a quick routine that I stick to. I don’t overcomplicate with a ton of products,” she says. “And I do the same with make-up. I chose just three products as my staples and stick with them. And sleep!”

She’s all about moisturizers.

One thing Mendes says she struggles with is dark circles under her eyes. She notes that a concealer has always been part of her makeup routine “because no matter what, I have dark circles,” she says. “I made peace with that a long time ago.”

While her daily morning routine is generally basic, she goes all out to treat her dark circles with eye masks by Joanna Vargas. In her Facebook Q&A, she also gave a shout out to the “incredible” Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

But currently, she’s been touting Carasoin Cold Fusion Moisturizer, which she referred to as “face food” in an Instagram post. “I genuinely love this incredibly hydrating, cold pressed moisturizer with natural ingredients, she wrote. “Look it’s not cheap ($120) but a little goes a long way.”

In October 2019, she said in an Instagram Q&A that the cream is the one product she cannot live without. “Right now, I’m really into my friend’s [Carasoin] Cold Fusion. It’s really amazing and it has really great ingredients, shea butter, hemp oil,” she says. “And you can use it any time of the day. It’s kind of like something I apply when I need refreshment.”
