Eva Mendes shared a heartwarming (and deeply relatable) message for her husband, Ryan Gosling, after he delivered a show-stealing performance of “I’m Just Ken” at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night. The couple met in 2012 on the set of their film The Place Beyond the Pines and share two children.

Mendes accompanied Gosling to the Dolby Theater, but was not pictured with the star. Instead, he brought his sister and mother along with him to the festivities while Mendes, who has since retired from acting, waited it out in his dressing room. But even though she’s supportive of her husband’s career, it seemed the Hitch star was anxious for Gosling to wrap up his Ken-related obligations after nearly a year on the press trail.

“You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG,” Mendes said alongside a picture of her wearing Gosling’s pink studded jacket from the musical number. “Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed.”

Earlier in the evening, Mendes posted another photo of herself waiting outside of Gosling’s dressing room. “Always by my man,” she captioned the photo, which shows her in a denim-and-baseball-cap ensemble that’s a far cry from the evening’s couture.

Gosling has spoken about Mendes’ support of his career many times in the past, most notably when he accepted the Golden Globe for his performance in La La Land.

“While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer,” Gosling said back in January 2017.

“If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today," he continued. "So, sweetheart, thank you.”

We’re sure to see more of Mendes’ behind-the-scenes snaps when Gosling heads back to the publicity bench for his and Emily Blunt’s summer blockbuster, The Fall Guy, due in cinemas on May 3.
