Spring is officially here and Eva Mendes has designed the perfect wardrobe for all of your upcoming soirées of the season. Mendes is going into her sixth year designing with New York & Company, and this might be her strongest yet. “All [of] my collections are inspired by my memories and my mom and my sisters and different times in my life — and in their lives — because I feel like you can really do anything you want in life as long as you’re dressed for it,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

She adds, “We’re so emotionally tied to clothes as people, that I love the idea that I’m creating a possible memory for somebody when I design something.” The clothes were intended to be worn during memorable occasions like you child’s graduation, Easter Sunday or Mother’s Day — which are all, naturally, important memories in the making.

In the line, Mendes takes further inspirational cues from the ’70s — the same decade in which she was born. This retro aesthetic can be spotted on her bell-bottom jeans, a-line denim dresses and vibrant colored blouses and dresses. There’s a stunning striped two-piece ruffled blouse and skirt set that is perfect for summer vacation season. Then there’s a yellow and white striped maxi dress that is surprisingly wedding appropriate, too. All you need to do is add a pair of high-heeled sandals, black sunglasses and a small basket bag. Stripes are rampant throughout the collection, to which Mendes explains, “I love stripes. Anytime I can incorporate stripes into anything, I love it.”

Even though Mendes always looks fantastic, she shares that, at the end of the day, she’s still a mom, actress and businesswoman trying to juggle it all. “I’m not a fashionista and I don’t love fashion,” she says. “I like style, which is different, and I enjoy expressing myself through style and I love appreciating other people’s unique style…I don’t really know… how to define my style right now.” Although, she later admits, laughing, “I guess maybe ‘desperate mom’ trying not to look like a desperate mom is my vibe.”
