Many have wondered why Eva Longoria’s son Santiago hasn’t made his on-screen debut yet, and proud mama Longoria gave the hilarious details as to why.

On Jan 4, Longoria spoke with E! News at the Palm Springs International Film Awards about why she decided against casting her son Santiago in her upcoming film, the Disney+ movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

“They go, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we just use your son?'” Longoria said. “I’m like, ‘Absolutely not.'”

When asked why, she lovingly, jokingly replied that Santiago is so hard to deal with! “He is such a diva. He’s not cooperative,” she laughed. “Doesn’t take notes. Talks back.”

Many actors have spoken out against their children being actors, whether they want them to wait until they’re older to decide or the fact that they don’t want their children exposed to the industry more so than they already are. But Longoria’s adorable reaction to her son’s on-set behavior is making everyone giggle.

And fans especially love this response, because the video of him looking so lovingly at her while she’s directing is fresh in everyone’s minds. If you need a refresher, check out the Dec 28 Instagram post below:

Back in 2015, the Desperate Housewives alum and businessman José Antonio “Pepe” Bastón Patiño announced their engagement after being set up by a mutual friend. They married around a year later, in May 2016. The lovebirds later welcomed their first child together: a son named Santiago “Santi” Enrique, 5, whom they welcomed in 2018.

These celebrities are focused on raising their kids to be good humans.
