If you’re in the camp of not-as-enthused about Pantone’s choice of Color of the Year, Classic Blue, then it’s possible to find respite in Etsy’s 2020 pick for hot upcoming hue. On Tuesday, December 10, the artisan giant announced its 2020 trend predictions and among them, its selection for the 2020 Color of the Year: Chartreuse.
Etsy describes the tertiary shade as “daring, statement-making, and unexpected—exactly what we’re all trying to embrace in the New Year.” Chartreuse, which is a half-and-half combo of green and yellow, is described by our team as a mustard to neon yellow with a twinge of refreshing mint green.
The tint is oftentimes a go-to choice for couples who want to play around with their color palettes, especially if it’s an outdoor occasion at a venue like a ranch or a greenhouse. Still unconventional from typical primary colors, Chartreuse brings an unexpected twist to wedding palettes, particularly in 2020 after a near decade of muted hues and dashes of corals and oranges.
Etsy’s Color of the Year 2019 was Burnt Orange and slightly deviated from Pantone’s choice that year of Living Coral. However, while the hues are vastly different in the spectrum in 2020, the two selections of both Classic Blue and Chartreuse can be paired beautifully together for weddings.
Plus, it fits in nicely with The Knot 2020 trends report, which focuses on sustainable weddings and an introduction to up-and-coming colors like neo mint, cassis and more.
Here are some ways you can implement Etsy’s 2020 Color of the Year, chartreuse, into your wedding style.
