Ethan Slater Files for Divorce From His Wife Lilly Jay Amid Claims She's Feeling "Betrayed"

Looks like there's zero chance of a reunion between SpongeBob SquarePants actor Ethan Slater and his estranged wife Lilly Jay, because according to TMZ he filed for divorce in New York on Wednesday, July 26. The reason listed (and official date of separation) remain under wraps, but the filing comes amid multiple sources in multiple outlets saying Lilly is devastated over Ethan's burgeoning relationship with his Wicked costar Ariana Grande.

A source recently told Page Six that Lilly was “completely blindsided” by news of Ariana and Ethan dating, adding “It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck."

Another insider told Entertainment Tonight that Lilly's "devastated" but "doing her best to get back on her feet."

Meanwhile, Us Weekly reports that Ethan told Lilly about Ariana just days before the news went wide on July 20. An insider claims that “Ethan sat Lilly down a few days before the news broke about him and Ariana and said that he wanted a divorce. Lilly never saw it coming!”

Another Us Weekly insider (again, sources CAN'T STOP WON'T STOP) noted that “Ariana and Ethan weren’t careful. They’d hold hands on set in between takes. They were sloppy and not hiding it.”

And finally, TMZ's sources say that Lilly and Ethan "aren't" on good terms, and that Lilly feels particularly shocked and "betrayed" since Ariana used to hang with Ethan and Lilly as a couple.

In conclusion: a mess!
