Esquire recognizes The Ritz-Carlton, Portland as one of best new hotels
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Rose City’s latest luxury stay has been featured as one of the best new hotels around the globe.
In early April, Esquire uncovered its third annual list of the top hotels that have recently opened in North America and Europe.
In-N-Out could be coming to Washington County in the near future
The Ritz-Carlton, Portland was named among dozens of stays in popular traveling destinations like Hawaii, London and Rome.
“The question a lot of folks ask when they hear that there’s a Ritz-Carlton in Portland is: How does luxury work in one of the crunchiest cities in America?” Esquire wrote. “Very well, actually.”
It went on to highlight Portland’s reputation as one of America’s best dining cities, listing restaurants Le Pigeon, Han Oak, Oma’s Hideaway and Kann. The last of which was recognized as the men’s magazine’s “Best New Restaurant” of 2022.

The hotel opened later on Halloween 2023, more than four years after Marriott International announced its plans to construct the Pacific Northwest’s first Ritz-Carlton.
The building holds 35 floors and 251 rooms, along with an infinity pool, lobby bar Meadowrue and posh restaurant Bellpine. It also includes a fitness facility and more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space.
Portland firm GBD Architects — which designed the Oregon State Treasury building and the urban Amaterra Winery — also designed the $600 million tower. At 460 feet, it’s the fourth-tallest structure in the city.

“But most significantly, you can see the mountains from the upper floors, which feature a restaurant and spa areas. Gazing at Mount Hood while sipping a martini or spotting Mount Rainier from an infinity pool is definitely a vibe. The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, will make you see this city in an entirely different light,” Esquire said.
The magazine’s other top new hotels include the Pendry Newport Beach in California, Field Station Moab in Utah and the Maison Delano France in Paris.
