Manchester City has announced the signing of 21-year-old Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51,000,000 GBP (approximately $63,000,000 USD) after activating his release clause.

The Norwegian striker bagged 86 goals in 89 games after spending two and a half-season with Borussia Dortmund, winning the German Cup and the Bundesliga Player of the Season award in 2020/21. Born in Leeds, England, he claimed in an official statement that he's always been a fan of City and admired the style of play. "This is a proud day for me and my family," said Haaland. His father, Alfie Haaland, was a former Manchester City player, having spent two seasons before retiring due to injury problems.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions. I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.” Haaland said in a statement.

The Norway international has signed a five-year deal with the club. The striker will reportedly earn £375,000 GBP (approximately $450,000 USD) per week.
