Fans love Erin Napier for her honest approach to social media. The Home Town star keeps it real when talking about motherhood, her career, and her love for her hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. This week, she took to Instagram to open up about an unsettling situation that put her family in danger a year ago.

She posted a blurry photo of some Barbies, a stuffed Clifford dog, and a baseball. But, as she explains, these innocuous looking toys do not belong to her daughter. Rather, a 54-year-old stranger dressed like a Storm Trooper moved to their neighborhood and brought the toys for Ben and Erin's daughter, Helen (now 4 years old).

Erin's caption explains the frightening ordeal and Ben's reaction and credits her neighborhood and security officers for protecting them from danger.

May the 4th be with you. Not my favorite day, one year ago. We were filming the reveal for Donelle’s episode and CBS Sunday Morning when Ben started getting messages from lots of folks in town about a 54 year old California man dressed like a Star Wars storm trooper, wearing an ankle monitor bracelet, who had come to town and was saying some very strange things. Things like “God sent me here to protect the women of Laurel, specifically little Helen.” He had bought a house a block from ours and was living in it with nothing but a suitcase and these toys for when my 3 year old daughter “comes over to visit.” Ben saw red, his blood boiled. I was terrified and 9.5 months pregnant. In those two weeks that followed, before he was finally sent back to CA, he found Mal and Jim’s baby girl on walks with her nanny and said unsettling things. Disgusting things. We all had 24 hour security officers at home, while we slept, while we worked. Helen asked who they were and why they were here, and we never told her the truth. “They work with us! They’re friends of ours who are staying with us for a little while!” A year on, I still think of this thing every day but it doesn’t scare me anymore. I’m thankful for the way our neighborhood guarded us and put up a hedge of protection when we needed it and it further validated what I already knew: protect your kids in the online world much as you can.

Erin's fans immediately commented with words of support and prayers. One wrote, "Oh my goodness. How scary! You have a great tribe!! May he never come back and hopefully he got some help." Another said, "So terribly sorry to hear such an ordeal. You are being protected all around you and beyond." One person pointed out that Erin protects her daughters' identities on social media, and this is why: "Horrible, disgusting & evil! But, I do always love seeing how a community comes together in the midst of storms. I now even further respect why you go to the extent that you do to protect your babies from the public eye. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. 💔💔💔."

Erin explains that she still thinks of this every day, but "it doesn't scare me anymore." We're so impressed by her bravery during this frightening time.
