Erin Napier Claps Back Against Commenters Who Are Bashing Her Latest Initiative

Erin Napier has been vocal about keeping her kids social media free, and now the HGTV star is making an effort to connect with other parents who are raising their kids the same way. In a heartfelt plea on Instagram, she revealed that she has big plans—with more details to come this summer.

In a video, Napier said: "Alright y'all, I'm up to something, and I can't tell you about it yet. But I can tell you that I'm looking for parents who are keeping their kids social media free through high school and junior high too. If you are one of those parents, I want you to go to this website. There's a link in my profile, or you can go to my Instagram stories. You can tap that there."

The link goes to a page on her website that's titled "osprey" and reads "old school parents raising engaged youth" underneath. "I want you to join this mailing list I'm starting because I'm doing something really exciting, and I really can't wait to tell you more about it—but it's still incubating," Erin continued in the video. "So stay tuned."

While Erin specified that she's looking for parents of kids who are five years old through teenagers in high school, she shared in a comment that parents of children who are younger than that are still welcome to sign up. One parent—whose kids are grown and who works as a school counselor—asked if they could support this upcoming project, and Erin replied by saying yes to that as well.

Many parents took to the comments to share their thoughts on the subject, and some of the conversations got a bit heated. Erin replied to a few of the inquiries, including one person who asked, "What happens after high school if they haven't learned how to use it responsibly before they leave home? This makes sense before they become teenagers, but I think it gets more complicated after that."

She replied, "What happens when they encounter alcohol? Hopefully, you've taught them how to use it correctly." See more of that interaction, along with others, below.

Erin's husband, Ben, also popped into the comments to reply to some folks. He agreed with one commenter who said that social media can be an incredible business tool.

Whatever your stance may be, we're eager to see what plans Erin has in store. Our guess? We imagine she might be making an effort to build a community where more kids who don't use social media can connect with each other and where parents can exchange their methods and tips.
