With a name that references royalty, it's only natural that Queen Latifah always shows up to a red carpet event in a look fit for one — and the MTV Video Music Awards back in 2019 was no exception.

The CBS actress and hip-hop icon had social media aflutter when she showed up to the Hollywood event in a vibrant orange pantsuit with fringed fabric at the bottom of the pants designed. She added thick gold rings and large geometric-shaped dangly earrings. To finish off the look, The Equalizer star rocked a dark smoky eye, coral lip and sleek straightened hair with an emphasized side part.

Unsurprisingly, as soon as her bold look landed on her followers' Instagram feeds, the comments came streaming in.

"I love that suit‼️ I need it in my closet 😍 you look fabulous," wrote one excited fan. "Tangerine is a color for very few. You rocked it! 🐦🎈🎋😊," another added. "😍😍😍🔥," a different person said.

But Queen Latifah's outfit wasn't the only thing The Equalizer fans were talking about after the awards. The New Jersey native performed with other celebrities who hailed from the area to pay tribute to their home state since the awards were hosted at the Prudential Center for the first time.

She made it clear with another Instagram post how happy she was to be back in Newark. With all the love Queen Latifah was showing her hometown, it was instantly reciprocated.

"Jersey girl loves you! Keep coming back to Newark NJ. We love you with everything in us💖💖💖💖," a follower commented. A fan even wrote, "Newark girls are the Best! 💗," someone else chimed in.

Folks might remember the 52 year old riding into the venue on a red motorcycle and performed her Grammy-winning song "U.N.I.T.Y." as part of the show's finale. Nowadays, she might be more well-known for her TV and movie roles, but her memorable performance at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards proved that when it comes to music, she's still got it.
