Episode 30: The Future of Sustainability Talent

In this episode, WWD Voices welcomes guest host Nancy Miller, dean of undergraduate studies and chair of the Fashion Merchandising and Marketing Department at LIM College, who leads a panel discussion about the challenges and opportunities facing companies from a talent perspective.

Joining Miller are Andrea Reyes, sustainable fashion consultant and chair of the NYC Fair Trade Coalition; Tara Maurice, circularity design strategist at Coach, and Julie Verdugo, head of sustainability and social impact at Urban Outfitters, as well as two LIM College students.

About Our Host:

Nancy Miller is dean of undergraduate studies and chair of the Fashion Merchandising and Marketing Department at LIM College. She oversees all degree programs and advances the college’s mission through collaborating with Career and Internship Services and the fashion industry at large. Miller has created and taught several courses in the Fashion Merchandising and Marketing major at LIM and works alongside a team of faculty who are all industry experts in the fields of retail, product development, digital and social media marketing, and sustainability. She oversees the Fashion Academy, LIM College’s summer pre-college program.

Before joining LIM College, Miller enjoyed a career that spanned more than 25 years and included work in textile sales management, apparel merchandising, and product development. Previous positions include senior sales account manager for the Royal Carolina Corp. and Waverly Textile Processing, director of merchandising for Dr. Denton Childrenswear, and product manager for Kingly/Bees & Jam Inc.

Miller holds a Master of Education degree — with a specialization in Leadership in Higher Education — from Northcentral University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Syracuse University, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
