Growing up, an Easy Bake Oven was the coolest gift you could find wrapped under the Christmas tree. And while it might still carry some clout in the six- to nine-year-old range, maybe it shouldn't?

According to one TikToker, the culinary kids toy might be emitting toxic fumes.

"My husband, 8-year-old daughter, and myself all got admitted to the ER on Saturday because of an Easy Bake Oven,” @Steph_Murphy captioned her harrowing video on TikTok. "Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chills, and nausea. Nothing on Google showed anything similar, so was this a one off or have there been others? It was scary that we all got affected so quickly."

In a five-minute video shared to TikTok, Stephanie details how her evening took a quick and scary turn after her husband and daughter plugged in the new Easy Bake Oven. The pair, who didn't even finish baking with the mini-appliance or try the creation, began complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath within an hour.

"I got out the pulse ox and checked her oxygen and her oxygen was 89, which is very low. So we went straight to the ER," she continues. "On the way to the ER, my husband was like actually, ‘I’ve been having a difficulty breathing as well. I thought it was just me, I thought it would pass, but it hasn’t.' I’m like, 'that’s weird that it would happen right away to the two of them.'"

Once Stephanie arrived at the ER with her husband and child, she too began struggling to breath. The whole family was tested and swapped, but doctors were still "puzzled" and "assumed it was carbon monoxide poisoning" because "nothing else made sense" after the trio developed the same symptoms within an hour.

The father and daughter duo showed "compromised lungs" and pneumonia-like symptoms while Stephanie—who was in the house but not using the Easy Bake Oven personally—suffered much more mild symptoms.

While the family was eventually discharged, they're still looking for answers. TikTok users chimed in with their own concerns—and recommended the Murrays hire an attorney.

"Sounds like a component in the oven was giving off toxic fumes, maybe a piece of melting plastic," one user theorized.

Another added, "It would be good to report to the manufacturer, in case they can recall it and prevent anyone else from being harmed."

"Please keep the Easy Bake Oven and hire a lawyer….. fast! Your lawyer will likely pay someone to test the oven in a laboratory setting," a third person chimed in.

This isn't the first time Easy Bake Oven has raised concern, either. In fact, Hasbro inc. recalled the toy twice in 2007 alone, NBC reports. The company has not yet responded to Delish's request for comment on this story.
