Enter A Pearl-Tinted World With Gabrielle Rosenstein x Empath's New Collection

Los Angeles based label Empath and creative Gabrielle Rosenstein's Spring/Summer 24 collection, "Akoya," offers an alluring spin to the siren trend. The by-product of a dreamy collaboration between founder, Emily Arakawa and Rosenstein, "Akoya" is inspired by an imaginative iridescent biome and Arakawa's Japanese and Singaporean heritage. She is a magnificent creature that dons feminine prints, textures and '90s inspired silhouettes to portray a living narrative.

To immerse viewers into the specialized universe of Akoya, Arakawa and Rosenstein crafted a bespoke set, lookbook and fashion film. The film follows Akoya's life above and below water, starting with her coiling and curving as if adjusting to life outside of her watery and transcendental home. As the film progresses, she slowly takes on qualities and activities contemporary women in cities do. In the end, Akoya is sprawled on a rock in the ocean, letting viewers guess if she returns home or is simply in a trance, imagining home.

The garments from the collection too enhance Akoya's otherworldly feel with their simple silhouettes and hazy graphics. The standout pieces are the two wide strapped tank tops that seem to mimic mermaid scales. In the film, those tops are paried with light green colored tights on the bottom, mimicking a mermaid tail.

The collection is available now on Empath's and Gabrielle Rosenstein websites.
