New England Ski Resorts Waking Up To 8+ Inches Of Snow

An eagerly anticipated storm touched down in the Northeast yesterday evening, blanketing ski resorts with late-season powder.

Magic Mountain, Vermont—one of the many beneficiaries—provided a tantalizing update this morning.

At 11 A.M. Eastern Time, Magic Mountain issued a second update on its snow report tab, proudly stating: "13-15 + [inches] and still snowing!"

Another Vermont ski resort, Killington, shared similar storm totals, noting that 13 inches of fresh snow had fallen since last night.

Outside of Vermont, in Maine, Sunday River picked up six inches overnight, and Saddleback Mountain got nine. Resorts across upstate New York and New Hampshire have also benefitted.

"It's already an epic day with over 8 inches out there," Whiteface Mountain, New York, wrote on Instagram this morning.

The stormy conditions haven't come without challenges, though. News Center Maine reports that at least 300,000 Maine residents faced power outages today, and Saddleback Mountain has closed due to high winds topping 50 mph. Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, also paused operations when it lost power.

The weather is expected to remain intense across the Northeast today, with storm totals possibly reaching two or more feet of snow in certain areas by tonight.

"We could be looking at anywhere between 25-27″ of fresh snow just in time for the weekend," Saddleback Mountain wrote in its daily report.

It seems that tomorrow is shaping up to be memorable for Northeast skiers. Just remember to stay warm.
