Endrime Documents Denim Archive in First Book

U.K. denim design consultancy Endrime published its first book documenting founder Mohsin Sajid’s designs and extensive denim archive.

“Endrime Archive Vol 1” features 92 jeans, 70 denim jackets, 18 overalls and more collected by Sajid during his 22-year career as a designer, consultant and educator.

With historical research on early French workwear and denim’s early tailoring roots in Europe, the 510-page tome puts into context the former Levi’s designer’s historical-inspired designs and projects for companies in the denim supply chain.

Sajid has designed capsule collections for Tencel, Bossa Denim and Naveena Denim Limited. Most recently, he teamed with Indigo Textile on an artist-inspired collection.

The book also includes archival pieces from Cone Denim and Levi’s.

The idea for the book came from Sajid’s experience as a denim lecturer at Central St Martins, London College of Fashion, Kingston University and Ravensbourne University. “At the end of most of my lectures, [students and other lecturers ask] if I have a book about the hundreds of samples I show each year [and] ‘surprisingly not yet’ has been my go-to answer,” he said.

While there are books that focus on specific brands and eras of denim, Sajid said there was a need for one that paints a broader picture of denim and tells the historical significance of garments like the Trucker jacket and five-pocket jean.

With over 3,000 pieces in his archive, Sajid said more volumes are being planned. Endrime is also working on books about denim branding, pattern-making and denim constructions.

Endrime Archive Vol 1 is available for pre-order on Endrime.com. It retails for 185 pounds (approximately $230).
