We're big fans of a tense thriller, so we were super excited with the release of Netflix's newest film Noise last week (17th March).

The Belgian thriller tells the story of influencer and recent father Matthias (Ward Kerremans) who starts investigating a dark secret from his father's past. As the mystery continues, Matthias' wife Liv (Sallie Harmsen) grows increasingly concerned for him.

Noise is full of twists and turns as Matthias digs deeper into his past and the new town he and Liv have moved to. However, the end of the film appears to reach a satisfying conclusion.

But if you're still a little confused about what went down in the final scenes of Noise, then this is everything you need to know about the ending of the film.

What happens in Netflix's Noise?

In Noise influencer couple Matthias and Liv and their new born baby Julius move into Matthias' father's old house. It's in a remote part of town but is close enough to Matthias' father Pol's (Johan Leysen) nursing home.

Pol has dementia and one day wanders to the back of the house to the pond, which he explains he built for Matthias' mother when he was younger as she always wanted a pond. As Matthias takes Pol back to the nursing home, they pass the factory Pol used to work at and Pol gives a hint at the history of the place.

Back home Matthias begins to research more into the factory, documenting the process for his followers.

With the help of Liv's brother Timme (Jesse Mensah) Matthias heads to the factory where the pair discover a dead animal. Matthias does more research online and discovers a report about an accident at the factory in which five people died, which appears to have something to do with his father.

He begins to speak to his father more, and through conversations Matthias begins to believe more people died in the factory and their bodies were never discovered. Matthias thinks in order to repair his relationship with his father, he must clear his father's name by investigating what happened in the factory.

Matthias' mental health worsens and he is plagued by visions and becomes sensitive to noise. When he returns to the factory he accidentally hits Timme when he thinks he sees a dead body.

Liv speaks to her neighbours who reveal more about Matthias and Pol's life and their strained relationship after Matthias' mother's death. She goes to visit Pol at the nursing home where he is looking at documents and pictures of his dead wife Michelle, he mistakingly believes Liv is Michelle.

One of the documents shows that Michelle, who was suffering from mental health problems, tried to drown herself in the backyard pond whilst holding baby Matthias. The implication here is that Matthias suffers from similar mental health problems to his mother.

Retelling this story, Pol said he was able to save Matthias, but not Michelle, which he tells Liv he regrets, believing she is his dead wife.

After this revelation Liv heads back to the house where she finds Matthias digging a giant hole in the basement to uncover what he believes are secret tunnels to find the dead bodies.

He is deep in water after bursting a pipe below the house and tries to stop Liv from helping him. He is convinced there are bodies buried below and dives in, with Liv following him.

Pol turns up out of nowhere and sees the pair under the water, with flashback scenes to him trying to save Michelle being shown on screen.

He reaches his walking stick out to Liv who is able to escape and eventually the pair are able to pull Matthias out of the hole.

The film ends with Matthias and Liv at the pond holding onto Julius looking out at the water.
