The End Is Near! 'Halloween Ends' Trailer, Cast, Release Date, Streaming Details, Theories, Spoilers and More

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role of Laurie Strode one last time for Halloween Ends, continuing her quest for revenge against Michael Myers for wreaking havoc on the town of Haddonfield and murdering countless individuals. The film was a cathartic one for Curtis.

"The last shot [filmed] was [part of] a night shoot and I was in a car—it was a close-up of me in the car. And when we got out of the car, it was 4:30 in the morning and there was the picture of my face on the screen," she recalled to PEOPLE. "And I realized that was the last image of Laurie Strode after 44 years of portraying her. Isn't that amazing? And it felt very satisfying. I think people are going to lose their minds."

Is there a Halloween Ends trailer?

The first official Halloween Ends trailer dropped on July 20, 2022.

You can hear Michael Myers' heavy breathing in his mask, as well as the franchise's iconic theme song. The trailer opens from Myers' point of view, entering a house where Laurie Strode is waiting for him with a gun, telling him, "Come on. Let's go."

The trailer then transitions to Strode and Myers battling it out, as well as Myers going after other innocent people and flashbacks to prior Halloween movies. It ends with Strode telling the serial murderer, "Come and get me motherf**ker."

The final Halloween Ends trailer dropped on Sept. 27, 2022. It opens with Curtis as Strode in a voiceover, explaining that it's been four years since Michael Myers disappeared—but he's back to his old ways, almost immediately strangling a man to death in a tunnel just seconds after the trailer opens. Though others, including her granddaughter Allyson, dismiss Strode's warnings as hysteria and paranoia, she tells them that Myers feels more dangerous now than ever before ... and based on his slayings in just the ad alone, we don't doubt her. We also get a preview of their final showdown, with Strode perhaps foreshadowing her own death as a sacrifice to protect everyone else from "The Shape."

What is the Halloween Ends plot?

The official plot of Halloween Ends is revealed in the YouTube trailer description, and it's somewhat of a departure from Halloween and Halloween Kills, which both took place immediately following one another—in fact, Halloween Kills begins in the same car ride from the ending of Halloween. The official Halloween Ends synopsis is below:

Curtis revealed at New York Comic-Con in October 2022 that hope was a theme in the final installment of the trilogy that began in 2018.

“If we don’t have hope, we’re so f**ked ... Laurie Strode has finally been given the help she’s always needed. Now Laurie Strode has been given grief therapy after the opera death of Karen at the end of Kills,” she said. “Laurie Strode has been able to—not heal, but learn to live alongside her grief. It doesn’t consume her. It allows her to exist. And maybe for a second, you get this idea that maybe Laurie Strode is gonna be OK.”

She added, “Laurie Strode smiles for a second before the ceiling crashes down on her and the rest of the drama begins. But there’s a moment, so I do believe there’s a little hope in this movie.”

"I didn’t know it then, [but]I know it now: one of these days, hopefully not tomorrow, but I’m 64—I mean, do the math, it’s not in my favor—sooner than later it’s gonna say three words: 'Halloween actress dies.' My point is, it is the permanent ink of my life. Whatever I do, forever, Laurie Strode is because of you.”

Andi Matichak as Allyson

When asked if she felt like she was a "scream queen," Andi Matichak, who stars as Laurie Strode's granddaughter Allyson, told ScreenRant, "I believe that my on-screen grandmother is the one that kind of originated the term scream queen back in 1978 and, to be perfectly honest, I do not feel like I have earned that title yet. I feel like I'm working my way towards it and I will wear that badge with so much pride and so much honor when I get to that point. I feel like I'm at this point a scream princess, we're working our way up."

Patton said he likes "things that are scary" because they're "appropriate for our time."

"Jason Blum of Blumhouse is a really interesting guy. He manages to make these movies that, on the surface, are popular, scary movies, and yet he slides in these secret meaningful things, which I think are capable of influencing people on a large level," Patton told Collider. "His heart is in such an interesting place."

James Jude Courtney, one of the actors who plays silent killer Michael Myers, told Lake Geneva News of Halloween Ends, “This is really more than a trilogy. It’s a film in three acts, each act released as one film. And so, just as with any film, the first two acts build to the final third act, where the powerful climax is realized. I cannot go deeper into this without revealing too much of that incredibly emotional, violent and erotic finale.”

Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace

Curtis shared a snapshot of Kyle Richards as Lindsay Wallace, Laurie Strode's babysitting charge from the 1978 original, in Halloween Ends. After previously appearing in Halloween Kills, it appears Wallace has gone a little goth (unless this is her Halloween costume in the film).

"In the @halloweenmovie @kylerichards18 returns as Lyndsay," Curtis wrote. "She and her character have been doing this as long as I have. I wonder if her tarot cards saw this longevity in our futures?"

Will Halloween Ends be on Peacock?

Jamie Lee Curtis announced on Aug. 23, 2022, that Halloween Ends will stream on Peacock on the same day of the movie's theatrical release: Oct. 14, 2022.

What is the most popular Halloween Ends theory?

Horror fans have devised a slew of Halloween Ends theories with ideas for various twists and turns for the final chapter of the new trilogy, and Curtis and some of the new film's creators have stoked those as well.

John Carpenter told SyFy Wire that Halloween Ends is a "departure" from other movies in the franchise. He explained with a laugh, "Well, it's Halloween, and it ends. You'll see it's a departure from the others. It’s interesting. Dave [Gordon Green] is a really good director. I love working with him."

Gordon Green, who co-wrote Halloween Ends with Danny McBride, told SyFy Wire of the project, "I’m trying to restrain myself and behave and wrap it up in a conclusive way. Because if I look at it as a personal opportunity for me to play with the characters and the world that John Carpenter and Debra Hill created, I wanna make it very contained and controllable. I want to be a curator of the property for a minute and I wanna do some quality control for lack of a better term and have some fun in that wheelhouse and then say goodnight and let the next generation and the next filmmaker and the next great creative idea take over with that mythology."

For her part, Curtis told PEOPLE, "The departure is, I think, based on all of the lore, the lore and gore of what Michael Myers has represented, because we've talked a lot in the last release about Michael transcending from a man to something bigger. And the story of Michael has transcended."

"Michael Myers has become something much bigger than a man, and I think what's been really interesting is that we figured out, David Gordon Green and his collaborators, a way to make a very satisfying movie about human beings and the nature of evil," she explained. "It's dark for sure, but the world is dark right now."

Laurie Strode Villain Theory

The Laurie Strode villain Halloween Ends theory states that Michael Myers only kills people who get in the way of him going into his childhood home to stare out of Judith's window and that his only goal was to go home, not to truly do any harm.

Proponents of this Halloween Ends theory support it with the image of him killing Karen and standing and staring out the window, allegedly indicating that he won't hurt anyone if they just leave him alone—and thus making Laurie Strode the villain in her relentless quest for revenge against him for terrorizing Haddonfield. This theory is also at least somewhat supported by the mass hysteria depicted in Halloween Kills, showing that the Haddonfield residents are also capable of evil strong enough to kill. Add what will undoubtedly be an even stronger rage after Michael Myers brutally slayed Karen in Halloween Kills, and theorists believe Laurie Strode will be the new "shape" terrorizing the town.

Silver Shamrock Mask Theory

Another theory among Halloween heads? That Michael Myers' mask is one from Silver Shamrock, the company from Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Theorists believe that Conal Cochran controls the mask in order to murder more people; they cite the podcasters' holding up Myers' mask and causing other patients at the mental facility to start screaming as evidence.
