The 2022 Oscars are officially underway at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with hosts Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer and Regina Hall. Apart from fans looking forward to seeing who takes home Best Picture at the 94th Academy Awards, many will also be on standby for the highly anticipated performances. In addition to Beyoncé, Billie Eilish and Reba McEntire taking turns up on stage, the Encanto cast members will also get the crowd moving with the “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” But observant folks may ask, where is Lin-Manuel Miranda at the Oscars?

After the 2021 Disney movie made waves, the singer-songwriter shared his joy when Encanto was nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. What's more, Lin-Manuel earned an individual nomination at the 2022 Oscars for Best Original Song for "Dos Oruguitas." Unfortunately, the Hamilton creator won't be at the awards ceremony as a precaution following family news.

Only hours before the 2022 Oscars red carpet kicked off, Lin-Manuel announced on his Twitter that his wife, Vanessa Nadal, tested positive for coronavirus. "Made it to Hollywood," he wrote. "This weekend, my wife tested [positive] for COVID. She's doing fine. Kids & I have tested, but out of caution, I won't be going to the Oscars tomorrow night. Cheering for my Tick, Tick... Boom! & Encanto families [with] my own family, alongside all of you, ALL of you."

After hearing that the New York native wasn't able to attend the Oscars due to health and safety reasons, fans immediately reached out to him in the Twitter comments. Many sent their well wishes to Lin-Manuel, Vanessa and the rest of their family in both English and Spanish.

"So sorry Lin - hope she feels better soon and that you all escape it. Better safe than sorry - and the films you have gifted us this year will last longer than the night of the awards. ❤️," one person wrote. "Oh no I’m so sorry to hear Lin I hope the Vanessa is okay, we will be Cheering for you and #TickTickBoomMovie and #Encanto louder than bigger than ever sending our love and support to you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️," another added.

As folks may know, Lin-Manuel made his directional debut in the biographical musical drama film Tick, Tick... Boom!, which also earned two nods. Spiderman alum Andrew Garfield landed a nomination for Best Actor and the movie itself is in the running for Best Film Editing. Tick, Tick... Boom! faces fan-favorites like The Power of the Dog and King Richard.

If Lin-Manuel wins Best Song for Encanto's "Dos Oruguitas," it would elevate him to "EGOT" status after winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. While fans root for him, we're sure his Encanto costars will also be thinking of him.
