Emmy Rossum Once Again Secretly Gives Birth

The actress and her husband, Sam Esmail, are already parents to one daughter.

Emmy Rossum and her husband–producer, director, and writer Sam Esmail–have officially welcomed their second child in secret, without the public even knowing that she was pregnant.

The actress announced the surprising news on Instagram with a photo of the child's footprints, birthdate, time of birth, weight, and length.

She also showed off an older photo of her pregnant belly, as well as the first public picture of her new son, with an adorable snap of the bottom half of his face.

Rossum captioned the post, "04.05.23 On a foggy Wednesday morning, our son was born."

Amanda Seyfried commented, "The best Wednesday ever," while Stephanie Beatriz enthusiastically wrote, "YESSSSSSS."

Bachelor Nation alum Catherine Giudici, commented as well, writing, "❤️❤️❤️ wooooohooooo! Congratulations!"

Many more congratulated the star on the great news, with some sharing how amazed they were that Rossum managed to hide the pregnancy the whole time.

One fan wrote, "Girl you are great at hiding pregnancies 😂😂 good for you!!! And congrats to the whole fam!"

"Congratulations ❤️ I love that you keep your life private. It’s so refreshing! Enjoy every beautiful moment with your growing family," said another.

Rossum and Esmail have not shared the name of their newborn son, but that's not surprising. The two also have a daughter who was born in May 2021, after they successfully kept the entire pregnancy secret.

The couple likes to keep their family life private, and they're clearly good at it. Rossum shared a picture of their daughter two months after giving birth in order to promote getting vaccines.

She wrote, "When I was pregnant I got vaccinated. Not only did we have a healthy, beautiful baby girl but we also just learned our daughter now has antibodies. In short, stop being an irresponsible idiot and get the vaccine."

Esmail is the creator of Mr. Robot and executive producer of Homecoming, also directing the entire first season. Meanwhile, Rossum is an actress, producer, and director, best known for roles in Shameless, The Phantom of the Opera, and most recently, Angelyne.
