Emma Stone Responds to High Schooler’s La La Land-Inspired Prom Invitation

Jacob Staudenmaier of Phoenix, Arizona, may have just been a fool with a dream to attempt to take Emma Stone to his prom, but at least but he caught the eye of the Oscar-winning actress. Isn't going celeb-status viral reward enough for a thoughtful, labor-intensive prom invite (or, as teens call it, a “promposal”)?
In case you missed it, Staudenmaier, who just so happens to bear a slight resemblance to Ryan Gosling, put together a replica of the opening scene of La La Land, replacing the words of the musical number “Another Day of Sun” with lyrics written just for Stone. “Jacob Staudenmaier is my name/ Emma Stone if you came/ I think I’d lose it, Go insane/ We’ll have to see . . . I hope you’ll want to come on down/ I’ll see your face and think of how/ I got so lucky,” he sings. The teen even acknowledged that the prom would take place in her hometown (the actress hails from nearby Scottsdale) and threw in an offer to treat his date to a dinner at the local Olive Garden.

On Friday, the 17-year-old appeared on Good Morning America to read the message he received in response from Stone, who is grateful for the invitation but, unfortunately, unable to attend.
Stone’s letter read, “Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received. I can’t tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I’m in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me. Thank you.”
Alas, even though Stone won’t be the Mia to this high schooler's Sebastian, she did bestow her stamp of approval his doppelgänger status in the postscript. “P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma,” she wrote.
That in itself is worth a whole city of stars. Right?
