Name a friendship with as much star power than Emma Stone and Taylor Swift, I’ll wait. The duo has been friends for more than 16 years, so of course Emma used one of Taylor’s lyrics in her acceptance speech for the Best Actress award at the 2024 Oscars.

Emma won Best Actress for her work in her most recent film, “Poor Things,” which also won Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy, and was nominated for 13 Critic’s Choice Awards, including Best Picture and 11 BAFTA Awards, including Best Film. Poor Things was also named as one of the Top 10 Films of the Year by The American Film Institute and The National Board of Review.

The award winner gave a not-so-subtle nod to her BFF of 16 years when she ended her acceptance speech by thanking her mom and brother, and then openly speaking about her daughter for the first time, saying, “My daughter, who is going to be three in three days, has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl.”

This reference was from Taylor’s song “Bigger Than The Whole Sky,” which is a bonus track to her album Midnights.

According to Today, both stars have supported each other’s massive professional achievements since they’ve been friends. For example, Taylor attended a screening of “Poor Things” in New York in 2023. And Emma praised Taylor in an interview with Vanity Fair for her Eras Tour performances.

“She blows my mind … I mean, the amount of sheer stamina to do three and a half hours and perform 44 songs and to maintain the extreme energy of the audience—I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said in the interview.

Emma and her husband Dave McCary have been quiet about parenthood since welcoming their daughter in 2021, but what a sweet way to introduce her to the world by sharing lyrics from your best friend’s double platinum album. Keep taking over the world, girls.
