Emma Stone Debuted Dark "Chocolate Copper" Hair at the 2024 Oscars

A nod to Bella Baxter perhaps?

Emma Stone is far from the dark horse candidate to win the best leading actress award at the 2024 Oscars (everyone knows it's a true toss up between her and Lily Gladstone), but she is coming through with dark hair. Promptly arriving to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles an hour before the show began on Sunday, March 10, the 35-year-old glowed in a face of fresh makeup and long, dark(er) locks that paid perfect tribute to her Academy Award-nominated character, Poor Things' Bella Baxter.

A darker shade of her signature red locks that looked like a true brunette in certain lights, Stone's new hue will henceforth be known as "chocolate copper." It's the color that raven-haired Bella would likely choose should she make her way into a salon: a warm, intellectual hue that would look just as great un-styled as she romps around the world. Stone for her part, paired it with a seafoam-green, silk-jacquard peplum gown by Louis Vuitton and 30 carat diamond necklace.

The natural blonde's dark hair was styled by celebrity hairstylist and RŌZ founder Mara Roszak, who used her RŌZ products and GHD tools to create a look inspired by "the classic architecture of Emma’s Louis Vuitton dress with a modern touch." Worn down in a center part and tucked behind her ears, her locks featured one big, swooped curl in the back that tickled the top of her strapless gown—featuring a new longer length thanks to some very subtle extensions.

"To start Emma’s look, Mara applied RŌZ Root Lift Spray ($42) at the roots and the new RŌZ Air Thickening Spray ($42) throughout the rest of the hair to build the foundation of the style and ensure it lasts all night long. Next, Mara added the RŌZ Milk Hair Serum ($52) on the ends for extra smoothness and humidity protection. She then dried the hair smooth using the ghd Helios Hairdryer," explained a press release. "Mara then placed velcro rollers at the top of Emma’s head, one in each side, to help with extra volume. She let them sit as Emma got her makeup done. After taking the rollers out, Mara teased the crown and used the ghd Curve Soft Curling Iron ($279) to curl away from the face and at the nape of the neck as well."

After the middle part was added, the look was finished with RŌZ's Santa Lucia Styling Oil ($45) for shine.

Stone's makeup, meanwhile, was the work of her regular collaborator Rachel Goodwin, who just so happened to have her makeup kit go missing on Wednesday. By Sunday, it was back in her possession and ready to assist in magic making. In keeping with her Poor Things press circuit style, she chose the freshest of colors for the actress: shimmery pink lipstick and eyeshadow (which complimented her short soft pink manicure) played well with her glowy cheeks, her freckles shining through.

And the pièce de résistance, as far as glam was concerned? Her dark eyebrows, just a bit unruly. Will she be a winner? Who can say. But it is a winning look.
