Emma Hemming Willis Opens Up About 'Grief' Following Bruce Willis' Aphasia Diagnosis

Emma Hemming Willis shared an Instagram post in honor of National Grief Awareness Day on August 30.

Emma Hemming Willis is speaking out about grief following her husband Bruce Willis' diagnosis with aphasia earlier this year.

The model, 44, posted a video montage to Instagram in honor of National Grief Awareness Day on August 30, where she divulged how she's been spending her summer coping with grief.

"This was the summer of self discovery — finding new hobbies, going out of my comfort zone and staying active," she captioned the video, which featured clips of her spending time outdoors, exercising, gardening, painting, playing tennis and working various home improvement projects. The video was accompanied by Aretha Franklin's track "I Say a Little Prayer."

"My grief can be paralyzing but I'm learning how to live along side it," she continued in the caption before giving a shout out to her step daughter, Scout Willis. "As my step-daughter @scoutlaruewillis told me, grief is the deepest and purest form of love."

"I hope you find comfort in that too 💞," she concluded, while adding the hashtags, "#nationalgriefawarenessday#griefawareness #liveitup."

Emma's post received an outpouring of love from fans, friends and family, including Scout, 31—Bruce's daughter with ex-wife Demi Moore.

"This is so beautiful!" Scout's comment read. "I'm so proud of you, I love you so much!!!" Moore was also among those who "liked" the post on Instagram.

The post comes months after the family publicly revealed that Bruce, 67, would be stepping away from acting as a result of his diagnosis with aphasia, which has been impairing his cognitive abilities.

"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support," the family's statement back in March read. "We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him."

As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that," they ended the post, which was signed by the whole family, including Bruce's other daughters, Rumer, 34, Tallulah, 28, Mabel, 10 and Evelyn, 8.
