Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski set the record straight on how to say her last name.

Turns out we’ve been pronouncing Emily Ratajkowski’s name wrong this whole time.

In a TikTok released by Tory Burch, the model and actress responded to a question about how to pronounce her last name—and her answer may surprise you.

Per Ratajkowski, she pronounces her last name as “Rat-ah-kof-sky,” noting that it’s “the Polish way.” The “j” is silent and the “w” is pronounces like a hard “v.”

She had previously introduced herself with a different pronunciation that’s closer to the one fans know: “Rat-ah-cow-skee.”

The TikTok shows Ratajkowski backstage at the Tory Burch show for New York Fashion Week, which she closed wearing a corset-like sleeveless blouse, paired with a matching black skirt, fishnet stockings, and black heels.

The model is one of many celebrities whose names have been mispronounced by fans.

When a viral tweet circulated featuring RuPaul pronouncing Tove Lo’s name as “Too-vay-loo,” many were shocked. This led to the Swedish pop star explaining in a TikTok clarifying the correct pronunciation.

“Alright, my name. How to pronounce it. The Swedish way is ‘Too-vay-loo,'' she explained at the time. "The international way that I embraced is ‘To-veh-loh.’ So you can think about it as ’Too-vay-loo,’ ‘voulez vous.'”

Additionally, Lindsay Lohan made fans realize they’d been mispronouncing her name wrong for decades when she pronounced her last name as “Lo-wen" on TikTok.

But perhaps the most surprising name pronunciation reveal came from Raven-Symoné, who made a TikTok using the viral “shut up, it is not” sound clip from Chucky, revealing that the second part of her name, Symoné , is actually supposed to be said as “See-mon-ye.”
