Emily Ratajkowski’s response to being photoshopped on this magazine cover is everything right now

Emily Ratajkowski is a body warrior, and we admire her confident and brazen approach to body confidence. We also applaud her when she brings thoughtful discourse to the photoshop debate. Ratajkowski is on the cover of Madame Figaro but was very upset to learn that her lips and breasts were altered to appear smaller.

Instead of shaking her fists at the sky and condemning the use of photoshop, Ratajkowski’s response is lovely and body positive and perhaps the people who do the photoshopping should take note.

“Everyone is uniquely beautiful in their own ways. We all have insecurities about the things that make us different from a typical ideal of beauty. I, like so many of us, try every day to work past those insecurities. I was extremely disappointed to see my lips and breasts altered in photoshop on this cover. I hope the fashion industry will finally learn to stop trying to stifle the things that make us unique and instead begin to celebrate individuality,” the model wrote on Instagram.

In the before-and-after images shared by the model, it’s obvious that the unnecessary edit by the magazine made her lips and breasts appear smaller. Besides being rude and unnecessary, it’s strange because those are some of the body attributes that Ratajkowski is praised for.

This isn’t the first time a model’s body is photoshopped and it won’t be the last. While the beauty industry and the public at large have made strides to embrace all bodies in their various beautiful forms, we can’t wait for the day when photoshop is a retired part of photographing the human body.
